I think even if he scouted and had even earlier phoenixes he would have been in a bad spot. He had 2+ pheonix and finished cannons in G1, this game he had no cannons and no pheonix. The ling runby definitely sealed the deal though.

He dropped a second stargate and a fleet beacon when he should've dropped another robo and a robo bay. There were no more mutas joining the initial mutas, so he needed disruptors against the ground army instead of more phoenix. Really hard to make that call of course. Basically impossible to make with how new the game is, but once the game is more figured out I think calls like that will happen.

I think in SSL they did an interview and Life said that he regrets not picking Protoss or Terran as his race at the start of his career all the time.

At some point in a game you lose, it's always impossible to win. This is a statement you must see as true to properly think about this game (in my opinion). Then you have to look at every point leading up to this. And correct mistakes there. Any mistakes after that point do not matter. When the roaches was halfway across the map, he had already lost. He could have scouted them earlier (or guessed) He could have been ready for mutas. He could have gone aggro earlier to force non-drones from the 3 hatches he took right after making the 6 or 8 lings he made at first. He could have harrashed a lot more. Spread the zerg thin. Imagine if the game was at 1% of this speed. So all micro and multitasking is 100 times easier. The 100th best player would always beat the best, if his perception of time was so much faster. Meaning there is always something you can do better in this game. Which is why it's so great.
