If it was a 2 base colossus all-in it was too early
if it was fast dt's, he would just have built a turret

It's true that players will sometimes skip a msc in the early game, but its not really used as a component of most macro builds. When a player continues to produce oracles/stalkers like that in the early game before tech or an expansion, they are doing an all-in.

Heavier colossus production and more mass gateway can be powered from 3 base with 4 gases, it makes you impervious to SCV pulls and other Terran shenanigans like doom drops and late-game T timings.

I guess Bbyong had no medivacs, as long as the colossus and zealots can fight the bio then they shred it, the stalkers and storms attack the vikings just to keep the colossus alive longer

Yeah. I'm just surprised bbyong has moved toward mine the 2 base mine drop style. He's been quite good with it in the past in this mu and it makes sense against a player with supers style

This is a really weird series. Not just in that it gets decided in the first couple of mintues of each match, but also becasue there are so many mistakes on both sides. It really shows how non-standard play is extremely demanding and while in repeating well-trained situation, those people seem like flawless robots, if they need to make clutch decisions, you can really se how hard the game is.

Some mistakes from Trap (letting Life win the position far too easily, losing the msc...), and very good execution by Life (maybe one supply block at some point...).
That mistake that cost Trap a lot of sentry energy was key as well

Trap had the 2nd highest vZ rating on aligulac, pretty nice that Life was able to win. Life to win GSL!?

That positioning felt like a very deep move. I'm not sure I entire understand why that is the best way to do it. So umm, trap has like 2/3 or 3/4 of his army in his third over an open ramp, and a few stalkers in his natural behind a wall. Life decides to attack the wall with like 2/3 of his hydras, with the remaining hydras and lings waiting a bit behind to flank the main army in the third if it comes to help. It feels awesome, but can someone more knowledgeable walk me through the datils a bit? I mean, can't toss like split of the forces or something?

Trap knew, he scouted it with hallucinated phoenix, then tagged the hydra's with the oracle, but his army mostly consisted of sentries which don't deal well with hydra's on their own. On top of that, Life did actually execute that extremely well. Trap's best bet was to hold both entrances, but Life identified the weaker side and maintained an arc on the bottom while slowly chipping away at the other base, basically checkmating Trap. If he tries to engage, the arc is too good and he loses his army, if he doesn't engage, he loses his natural and main.

The problem with hydras is that they deal damage extremely fast with a relatively good range. Trap really needed to engane optimally, somwhere where he would be able to force some of the hydras to wander around aimlessly. He wanted Life so badly to attack the 3rd, but Life did not take the bait. The area in front of the nat is just too big, the range on forcefield is not long enough, so he would have to walk around a his shit would be dieing in the process.

At this point it feels cruel to make fun of them.

Phew, close call for Life. I'm glad Trap gave it a good fight though.
