When he came so incredibly close to beating ForGG om Challenger last season, he did what a lot of foreigners do after a big match like Challenger: He went on Twitter and thanked he practice partners. He apparently practiced TvT with 3 people.
First was Polt. Makes sense - whar Terran wouldn't want to practice with Polt?
Second was Major, and once again, that makes a lot of sense. Major has beaten many Korean Terrans in high-pressure situations.
The third was a surprise. The third was some kid from the Fnatic Academy. His name was souL. He plays against ForGG himself after the break.
I also remember Happy's game vs Bunny in some tournament, and Happy's TvT has some serious flaws. His macro is weak too. Sad to see Happy not in premier

Ah yeah, groups were far better ! But if you accept the "one BO5 to decide the fate of a player" thing, I kinda like this selection process.
I like the picking ceremonys too because it creates good drama. Of course in this case, its just absolutely one sided, but for example elazer beating showtime or mana vs heromarine gave us good tension.
Its satisfying to watching the challenger vindicate themselves.

Personally I want only the best players to be part of the WCS. Serral or Elazer are in, it's not like it's impossible for young talents to break through.

NaNiwa was 2nd to last seed, he didn't have a lot of options; and he hates PvP anyway. Showtime vs Elazer was mainly Showtime failing in game, not in picking, I agree.
I kind of understand where they're coming from though in terms of letting the Premier guys choose their Challenger opponent. There should be something for them for qualifying in the first season and if you're going to go with a full reset each time that's pretty much the only way
That drop in the back by souL was the dumbest single play I've seen in WCS Challenger. You could repeat that move a hundred times and it would not win you the game once.

It seems like he never really knew how to finish a game, whereas you see ForGG understand what he needed to do and capitalize on any mistakes his opponent made.
Difference between good players and elite players right there. When behind, forGG tightened up his play and waited for his opponent to make a mistake. souL clumsily obliged.
There are a lot of players who can go toe to toe with a top player in an even situation. But the number of players who know how to play from behind, or who know how to finish a game... that's a much smaller group.

Yeah I didn't mean pure Stalker, just Stalkers in very high numbers with some support. Wasn't expecting them to do that well without Zealots and having to face potential Fungals.

He only landed one fungal as far as I could tell. And 2 random infestors were lost retreating with enough energy to fungal.
I know why Targa pulled them back, because fungal is a lot more useful when used with attacking units too. But with those two infestors alive, he'd have a much better chance. Also it looked like he took the fight too early... Or made units too late.
As played, I guess sacking gold would have been best.

I hate how the casters seem so depressed and keep hounding what can petraeus do as if it was the late game mech army that was the problem here. petraeus played terribly the early game and mid game. he dang well should of lost in the late game if he sucks those two up by that much.

I honestly can't believe petraeus made up for such a bad early mid game and won. granted morrow had an even more terrible late game but if petraeus plays a better early/mid game and morrow will never look this good again.

Enjoyable to watch even though I never play the matchup. Petraeus seems to have the right idea. And it seems fucking hard to do. It's like watching Scarlett multitasking vs Avilo in the qualifiers.

Hi guys, GM Zerg here. Me and my GM Terran buddy are both in agreement that MorroW's mech play is...bizarrely bad. Those are the two best maps for mech in the entire pool and he just doesn't really know what he's doing. He's not making the unbeatable late game air army. He's just making a bunch of thor/viking and is stopping at like 6-8 ravens maximum. If this was GoOdy or Happy or whoever, this would be a different story, despite Petraeus' AMAZING play.
Also in G1 he didn't take advantage of any of the timing windows whilst Petraeus was tech switching.

Map is new, I don't think we'll see many people playing turtle mech on it in the future, it's already hard has hell to cover all attack angles with bio, it's hopeless with mech imho.
People try it anyway cause they think mech is easy with nerfed SH, but maps stillplay the key role for "mechability"

Well, Goody is a bad example because I don`t think he would handle the late game harrasment very well but I agree about your assesment on Morrows TvZ. It looks like he plays very solid before his army maxes out but afterwards he has no real plan.

From my experience the best way to deal with the new swarmhosts is to attack and abuse the long locust cooldown. Or just turtle until you have the unbeatable death army. From there it's just a matter of not getting your whole army fungalled.

Yeah, MorroW's play is fine early on. He got ahead in G2 after holding the roach stuff easily, set up a beautiful spread with tanks, picked off a couple of Pet's bases...and then he just kinda doesn't do anything.

Year of Harstem is back!! Hate that he has to play Serral but.....Harstem isn't as young and has been playing for a long time. He deserves a run in WCS. I miss his sparkling personality and work ethic.

extremely unimpressed with morrow's undecisiveness in his game on vaani especially....could have easily gone for a base trade 2-3 times and won, but didn't have the balls to attack

The previous system was very bad because it was a bracket stage + a group stage. It was ridiculously long and boring. A simple group stage would be great.

NaNiwa had the choice between Gungfu and elfi as 2nd lowest seed, PvP being his worst matchup. No saving him. And Suppy chose JaeDong over MaSa because MaSa traumatised him in a previous Challenger while Suppy 2-0'd JD in Kung Fu Cup a few weeks ago. So they aren't necessarily bad choices. But they didn't work out at all, that's for sure.
