the game is balanced but it doesn't make zerg any less depressing.

hopefully I can watch the dark vods vs maru/taeja tonight so I don't end up killing myself.

I think one of the big things about Life is that, despite his slumps, he has been great since 2012, and now is by far the best zerg out there, he is now better than never before.

It's not news that every time protoss wins a game someone has something to say. We're used to it.

There's definitely a pattern, though. If you ask people about balance and design things, Protoss is the first thing to talk about. Not only about "Protoss so imba, pls nerf", but also "the only viable way to win as Protoss is to do stuff like X".

The thing is, outside of tournaments, people don't really see a reason to talk about it.

You act like people are rational about it. They will see a terran win a game with a drop when the toss is out of position, and scream "amazing game sense to drop now". The next game a protoss forcefields a ramp when the zerg is unprepared, and they're like "that's bullshit".

Thats why I brought in the point that in discussions like the ones for LotV, people still bring up the same points that people raise to balance whine in here.

That doesn't really happen to Terran and Zerg, their complaints are way more in line of "We need to balance economy", but for Protoss it's all about "remove X, remove Y, remove Z". With Colossi, Forcefields and Warp Gate tech being the most common ones.

Why should that make a difference when the complaints aren't rational?

Ok, to summarize my point:

Protoss complaints in a rational discussion topic("LotV Multiplayer Update" etc) are almost exactly the same people use to balance whine in tournament threads.

Terran and Zerg complaints in a rtional discussion topic are, most of the time, completely different from balance whine in tournament threads.

That really reads to me like confirmation bias. Is there actual data to back that up aside from 'the balance discussions that I have frequented'?

Yes, in fact I have spent the last 3 weeks gathering data in this completely arbitrary point I raised to explain my feelings of this forum.

It's good that you brought it up, though. I'm not claiming that this is the one and only truth, but as someone who at least reads almost all the discussions on design, especially for LotV, those are my feelings towards that whole debate and I find it curious how it actually plays out.
