Even then life tried to end it and threw it all again going for the win instead of killing 3rd etc to maintain/improve the lead...

Like day9 likes to say... when you are ahead, get more ahead Trying to end quickly just lets the other guy back into the game if it fails. Go for guaranteed advantages and wins
