If it wasn't obvious, caster bashing is still not welcome on Teamliquid |

Pretty awesome that MarineKing got so far though. Was the finals worth watching? Tasteless and Artosis were sick funny during the finals, the hype was real. That being said, the game quality was meh. The first three games are helpful if you're looking for cheesy all ins in PvT, the third was sOs sort of trolling MarineKing with immortals, but a pretty weird game. Game 5 on Nimbus was an excellent display of Phoenix Collosu without Gateway units. Haha decided to watch it. What a typical sOs style stomp, it was beautiful for how crazy it was lol. That game 5 build was surely something.
Also never knew Artosis disliked MK so much. The way he said 'thats the marineking we all know.... and love'. Definitely some strange casting it's like they just gave up after game 3 lol. I loved the ending though: "Well this was the finals guys, hope you guys enjoyed it' and than laughing out like madmen. And sOs is really good at winning cermonies and looking happy

Hahaha, just watched the VODs. sOs is amazing, holy shit. I really thought Tasteless & Artosis were on fire tonight, too. Super funny, overall great event.

MKP sister was really cute.
wall i said it!

as much as I like MarineKing, there's something strangely satisfilying to see him lose at a final again so that soO can have a true rival as the king of kongs.

Well damn, I went to watch the Twitch VoDs and the thumbnail for Part 2 was MK holding a bouquet and check so when I started watching I thought he had won.... T_T
My theory for the shitstorm in many MK LRs is that because his image is so passionate/emotional, his fans are naturally the same way, and MK anti-fans actively want to see him lose big games so they can make fun of him. This offends the fans because they are also emotional about MK losing, which sets off the anti-fans in the same way ("cry more" "so salty", etc).
I'm an MK fan and I have no problem with sOs winning or sOs fans, he's a great player, it's just baffling to me how many people derive pleasure from the emotional distress of a Starcraft pro and his fans
I also have to say I was disappointed by some aspects of the casting. I don't know what Pogs are and have no strong feelings regarding Jar Jar Binks, so I really couldn't give a shit about long pointless stories about either of them...especially in the GRAND FINALS. Hyping one guy, making fun of another, and making quips are fine (well I would have liked more MK support but w/e) but what I really tuned in for was analysis and strategic insight, which was a bit lacking.

sOs still the Boxer of SC2, Foxer is the pretender and got 4 gg-ed.

I think that people have stopped trying to analyze either marineking or sOs because they know it's not worth it. You wouldn't expect an analytical cast of a yahtzee game either.

Poor Marineking. Did he cry?

Of course he got second! Hahaha

I honestly can't believe how bad sOs up settled MarineKing. I don't know how sOs beat a player who beat the best Protoss in the world.

Is Zest really that good? Seems overrated to me, kind of like a Dear 2.0 currently. Came up short at Blizzcon, 2014 GSL S3, and now Hot6. We'll see how well he does in 2015, but he doesn't seem nearly as dominant as the narrative would suggest.

I don't want MK to lose to make fun of him, I want him to lose because his fans are annoying.

He only won 3 tournaments in korea this year and made the ro4 in 3 others! Dear has absolutely NOTHING on Zest, it's not even close. Zest is favored against EVERY single Zerg and Protoss on this planet, if he could get his vT on the same lvl he would be undoubtly the best player. So yeah, nothing like Dear who had a few lucky weeks

Since when did GOM start uploading VODs on youtube? Thought you had to pay a subscription fee.

However, sOs came close to beat zest in kespa and her0 was going in a slump for pvp (I believe). The only dissapointment was rain's inability to beat zest in the last gsl. Zest won 3 tournaments, but he never dominated. However, certainly the best protoss and perhaps, though not clearly, the best player of 2014 in terms of results.
Nevertheless, zest is not the best protoss in the world as his PvT is clearly his Achilles heel, which no "best of the best" of any race should have. Plus, the results don't mean much as most of 2014 was zerg and protoss dominant, but not for terran. If zest was trying to win championships now, it'll be much harder for him than before.
Zest may be improving his PvT, but that doesn't mean he's maintaining his other match ups and other players overall are improving as well.
Hope this make's zest's status as the best of anything a little more questionable, though the topic of deciding who's best is usually really hard.
