Superbowl had a power outage. They took a break and fixed it. There were no more problems afterward. But why didn't they fix it beforehand? I mean, all problems that may arise can be anticipated ahead of time, right? Right? You cant be serious? There is a small difference between having a power outage and not getting a computer game to work. Its not like Super Bowl can protect themselves against earthquakes, tornados or alien attacks either. But I am quite sure they wont need to cut their production every 8 minutes due to techincal issuses. Which goes back to my original point of us not knowing what is causing the problem thus making it difficult to judge if it is actually hard to make the tournament run smoothly or not. I mean sure, if there is a power outage going on over there that nobody can actually control, it's not necessarily the management's fault. But judging by the fact that this has happened a couple times already, I doubt it's a power outage. At some point you have to draw a line for what's unacceptable incompetence based on the circumstances. I agree with the general principle of giving them the benefit of the doubt. I feel like we've crossed that point. Truer words have never been spoken. zealously watch the top of the thread for the explanation I put the note there so you do know the origin of the failure, and thus you can make a judgement No, we know that there were hardware issues and a major power outage. We don't know what caused either of these issues or what steps were taken to prevent and work around them, so we can not judge.
We probably can not judge, but we can fairly say that if the intent is to promote esport (and SC2) as entertainment for a broader audience, the WCS Finals are miserably failing. This is an awful experience.

I guess someone found a game called Starcraft Brood War which had something called LAN. They are using local servers... local servers, that don't work properly... (probably because they weren't properly tested) So that doesn't take away from the LAN mode argument, which will of course never happen as we all know. maybe if they tested them beforehand, like making LAN available to the public like we've been asking for years...
Yes, that's exactly my point. Obviously not properly tested LAN server. That also explains why LotV did work without problems just right before (being a different server program).

Someone is writing the code for LAN in the back now. It'll be ready in a few minutes so they can plug the computers into each other and play. Don't worry /jk
