It was the recall that really messed that up, he came into things and the FF, didn't force the ground army far enough away.

Washington doesn't have any qualifiers, right? :S And now someone's catching on. You could argue they had one, won by Cure, but no more. There were a lot of qualifiers, actually. All the individual RB events act as qualifiers, and they had their own set of qualifiers. The individual Red Bull events acted as events. Full tournaments with their own stages, match-by-match schedules, and three of them with their own WCS points. Those are NOT qualifiers. They act like qualifiers, just like the DH:Open events did for Dreamhack Winter last year. I think he is getting what you mean, but says that this method of player seeding cannot be counted as qualifiers defined in the WCS rules. Blizzard have demonstrated that they are willing to very nearly ignore their own rules. A big tournament like DC will have WCS points, I can almost guarantee it. Maybe we should make our own WCS point list, with actual rules Each year we get about 13-20 Premier events before Blizzcon. There are 3 seasons of WCS and maybe 2 global/kespa cups. Looking at the pure WCS point distibution Premier events all got 4k points each. WCS events get 10k each, but split into three different regions, meaning each WCS region gets 30k in WCS events and some of the top players get a shot at 14k more due to Kespa Cup/Global Cup. This means Premier foreigner events are holding up anywhere between 52k-80k are up for grabs compared to 104k in WCS (Though realistically any one player from any region can compete for only 30k-44k at the absolute best). This means that for the average player, foreign lans are weighted to be twice as important as WCS events. To make it even worse, WCS points in WCS events are weighted towards the champion as they want to seed the Champions into Blizcon, but because of that consistent players that can't go out to lans (Vortix, TRUE, soO, Maru, etc.) are all essentially at a massive disadvantage. This isn't even going into Tier 2 events, of which there can be anywhere between 5-15 per year. Which give another 3.5k of WCS points putting consistent performers in the main WCS events at a worse position. This isn't even going into the blatant disregard of guidelines or a standardized rules set across the board as to what event gets how many points. The most blatant example of this was Gfinity G3. Put as a Major event, it stil gives first place as many points as a winner of a Premier tournament like DH, IEM or MLG. On top of that 3/4 of the players were invited for a total pool of 12 players. Yet at the same time, a tournament like ECL and the TesLs have more qualified players than invited and get 1/2 the WCS points (or none in the case of ECL). Even tournaments similar to Gfinity in terms of qualified to invited players like LSC, Fragbite, or the Copenhagen games got half the points despite having almost the exact same ratio of qualified players to invigted players (or in the case of Fragbite 0 WCS points). Basically there is no unifying idea behind the allotment of WCS points. It's not giving a helping hand to local events or copenhagen games/ECL/Tesl probably would have gotten more. It's not trying to choose a best player like last year. It's not setting strict rules on what kind of basic structures we want WCS endorsed events to be. It doesn't particulalry favor players in the WCS main events beyond the champion. What the fuck are you trying to achieve by giving out WCS points? I actually can't tell.
You should write an article about it on TL so Blizzard will see it, who knows maybe someone would do something.
