Are 100 mins really that big of an investment to not be better prepared in the main?

I'm a little unsure of why it's a problem to cast replays if the results aren't getting spoiled and it's more convenient for the players.

To clarify.

We had to play this series early due to too many conflicting travel arrangements. Unfortunately there are so many players attending events in the forthcoming weeks that if you include travel days it simply becomes impossible to schedule around them.

These matches were all played yesterday at the same time as Group A was for the following reasons:

San is living in Taiwan which is +6 hours from CEST. Meaning he would start at midnight, and potentially play until 5am. He has to catch a flight to Redbull Detroit early that morning and could potentially have to leave during play if we had long matches and he went to the decider match.

We suggested playing the group a few hours early to accommodate this, but ToD is currently on the west coast of the USA which is -9 hours from CEST. If we tried to play at the proposed 15:00 CEST, it would be 06:00 for him which would be inadequate for him. He also had to fly to Detroit at a similar time, as you may be aware of due to his tweets today! He will then be in Toronto for IEM the following week.

Bunny also flies to Redbull Detroit, Toronto and then onto China for WEC, which completely blocks off all other dates for the rest of the ro32 schedule.

Unfortunately Group A (the one played yesterday) also had similar issues with Snute and StarDust and so we had two groups with the exact same issues regarding scheduling and both requiring the same date to play. With this in mind, we had the choice of either forcing player(s) to miss certain events, or schedule around them, which was our preferred option as we do not wish to limit players attendance to any event.

Ultimately we decided to move the broadcast date of Group B from the 21st to the 20th to minimise the amount of time in which any leaks could occur and maintain the integrity of the broadcast. As we speak, only 4 people know the full results of the evening, which are two referees (myself and Shawn) and the two players who participated in the deciding match. All commentary is live and blind to results.

I apologise if the broadcasting from replays has had a negative experience on your evening, but you should know that this is always very much a last resort and we always intend to have matches played live and this is the first time this has happened in 6 seasons (48 groups) of WCS EU Premier.

Can't the players just travel to Detroit one or two days early and play the games live from there? And I have no sympathy for the timezone issue. This is WCS EU after all.

I think its understandable that they changed schedule for the players but i hope this will be a one-time-only exception.
Because i think JustPassingBy is right, this IS WCS EU. If they dont feel like playing at the EU time.. well they should not play in EU.

If it was purely due to timezone restrictions, sure. But both players also had to travel to events. Like I said, we could have forced them not to travel to events, but can you imagine the problems that would cause over playing from replays?

I can, thats why i said its ok. I just dont want this to become the default option because player XYZ doesnt feel like playing from korea at a certain time. I know you didnt do this for korean players in the past, but once you start you never know how far people try to push you.

Again, i really dont mind it. Just make sure its not becoming the default option.

the thing is, if people are busy or it's too late or too early for them and can't make the scheduled time, disqualify them if they are not online for the check-in. There's money on the line here and I'm sure a couple of dq's here and there and players will start taking it more seriously. Tournament will start losing it's credibility if it starts re-arranging things because of couple of players who knew well in advance when it was their time to play just couldnt make it.
