I feel like we should do the TL trifecta for Bo3. SC2, Dota 2 1v1 (does this exist?), and then smash ace match. If I can make it to ace match off of my starcraft skills I think I would win my Bo3's

I actually really like the sound of this.
And in case of tie in "mapscore" at the end, sudden death no holds barred BO1 in Hearthstone.

As a gold league starcraft player who's played about 3 games of DOTA total and hasn't had anyone to play smash with in years... I don't like this idea as I think I might get rekt

Not much choice against 6 colos. At best you can build 4.
i disagree you can either cut at about 4-6 or just go mass medis instead of vikings, requires a better spread and micro though.
Mass Medivacs against 6 colos? Healing ashes is of no use.
i've seen pros do it atleast twice (taeja or polt i think maybe both?) and it's beaten me atleast 3 times on ladder though i was being defensive vs alicias offensive

great game by iaguz up until he pulled scv's. I actually think that was the wrong decision... he was up in bases, workers and supply, but alicias army at this point was still pretty strong, that engagement could have gone either way.

Maybe the marines lied to the SCVs and told them they would go to a party. Thats why they were following them1

That were some lackluster games by alicia....even the first win was not very convincing... on the other hand... iaguz played very well, way better than I thought he would.
I'm not whining... But I don't like where this matchup is going. I don't like that pulling SCVs is more viable than playing the lategame. And the only way to fix it, that comes to mind, is either removing mines (so templar openings are viable), or remove storm research, so you can get them in time for this.

Scv pulls are a lot less successful than successful. I'm actually amazed people do them as often as they do

Thank you, I am able to read. Starting your Post with "no whine" does not make it better. You still wrote removing mines (so templar openings are viable), or remove storm research, based on a game that ended with Scv push. I get that you don't like the scv pull, I also don't love it but your "solution" is bonkers.

You did quite a decent job in disguising the balance whine.
im fine with cannon rushes working when zerg doesnt scout or underpulls drones but something seems wrong when you can prescout with 2 drones mass pull lose all that mining time and still not even come close to stopping it

as far as openers go, protoss just has the edge over zerg in the start, have to deal with it since that's just how the game works

Hatch first, though? Also, Jim spent a fortune building all those cannons.
Man that defence was so bad he had drones just standing there down at his natural while the pylon was building then he had drones that killed of a cannon stand there for like 4-5 seconds before moving them on to killing off another one which they may of failed in doing cause of that :///

I also stated that the problem is that this is Terrans most viable strategy to avoid lategame. And widow mine has made it even more of a forced strat, because Toss has to go colossus + stalker. And I don't think you actually think I thought removing them was a possibility?
Ending thoughts because I don't want to talk to you anymore: SCV pulls bore me. And terrans are complaining about them being their best chance too. Just watch lastest episode of Meta...

I get that you don't like the scv pull, I also don't love it but your "solution" is bonkers.
Discussing technique 101. I don't wanna talk to you anymore. Farewell then.

Even though I'm glad the Gimli Terran won, it really feels like TvP is back to that boring, no aggro til 20 then big game deciding fight style, excepting early mine drops and stim timings (triggered Photon Overcharge! Excitement!). I felt like we had some crazy good TvPs around the time of Welmu vs Inno, MMA vs MC, also the Nexus Sniping times of Polt maybe, but now we're back to a sleep inducing meta.

Photon Overcharge has nerfed aggressive Terran openings, and the greatly buffed Widow Mines have nerfed Protoss Templar play. Since lategame TvP was never really strong, that means Terrans have to win in the midgame and Protoss has to win with a deathball.

That's exactly why I dislike it. It encourages the execution of a strategy where the viewers know exactly how it will play out and what the results will be for somewhere around 6 or 7 minutes before it actually happens.

Jim vs iaguz should be an interesting match. Jim's PvT is pretty Chinese.
I don't know what it is about phoenix-collusus that makes terran players so eager to throw away their army at it.
from my playing experience you just have that fear that the toss eventually walzes over you in 2 seconds, when he get's 14th collosus. So you try to keep trading to keep the numbers low.

Coming into the group I'd of put Nestea and Iazguz as evenly matched.

His mistake was not to make enough void rays. I still remember when he opened 3 stargate void rays every game, and all the zergs responded by building mutas and just died to the phoenix follow up.

Nestea has, for the last few WCS seasons, had this tendency of needing several games to "warm up" to playing his opponent. Game 1 of the day and the last Game he plays seem like different players.

i wasn't paying attention to this game, but wtf just happened? did iaguz actually just go aggressive straight into protoss's natural without SCVs and win? or did i miss something from earlier that put iaguz ahead?

Jim had a colossus not doing anything the whole fight and that essentially lost him the game.
and crap, now nestea and jim can't both advance =\
Incredible from start to finish. I was under the impression Alicia and Jim didn't play that well but in the end it probably just boils down to iaguz playing that extremely well. Congratz to him. Sorry Jim, cheering for NesTea in the group finals !

Of course he brought the SCVs with him. He won all four games today where he did that.

No way losing to Cannon Rushes twice in a row sits well with the Creator of the Universe.
Wish people would stop using titles for players once they're no longer deserving of it..I mean I cringed so hard when i was watching DH Bucharest last year when Flash went up against DIMAGA and the casters kept going ''GOD,GOD,GOD,GOD,GOD'' while Flash just rolled over for him and no disrespect against DIMAGA he hasnt really been top tier even european wise in a rather long time..

I think he meant like Ofcourse. in that he ofcourse did something that put him ahead from earlier

I thought the WM drop was a nailbiting play, especially with going back for it again.
True enough, Iaguz openings were diverse. Not his fault SCV-pulls are powerful
I wish there was a way to scale those back without affecting other things too much. I think that was why they lowered SCVs' HP in WOL beta, but I guess it didn't quite do what they were hoping it would do. What if they lowered their push priority, so that Zealots could just body check them right out of the way?

Sorry to irritate you, but I consider it a lifelong honorary title for Nestea.

He played much better against Alicia than against Jim in the first series, and Koreans generally do better in the rematch, so I wouldn't give up hope so easily.

How hot is it in Canada? Here in Sweden I've got 35*c during the day
Canada is pretty large, I don't know where SetGuitarsToKill lives, but over here it's pretty cool, temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius during the day.

34 in Alberta. I've got no AC and I live in a brick building. It's baking in here.
That's the way it's been here for weeks. And I live in the north. I am ment to be knee deep in snow, igloos and polar bears. This heat is not for me. It is cooler today though. But the fan is still running at 3 A.M.

Yup, I feel you man. It's been this way for a while here too.
Having a supply lead against a Zerg is always a pretty huge deal. It is actually VERY possible now for this group to have 2 Koreans eliminated and 2 foreigners advancing.

Considering how important positioning is in SC2, it actually isn't a bad thing, in certain contexts.

Disappointed for NesTea, but Jim definitely handled his playstyle quite well. He had opportunities in both games but couldn't make them fruitful. Gratz to foreign hopes ^^

Less than 1 chinese so far so... x < 1 ; x = 0
That means.... 'MURICA. Even in alternate universes, we can't be invaded!

Nobody was actually in America though, how do you explain that?
And China--->NA lag is worse than Korea--->NA I believe (dunno about Australia)
Australia would be even worse I would assume. That country's not known for its stellar internet to begin with, plus the shear distance the signal has to travel I would think would create pretty huge lag

Depends a lot on your ISP and location. Thankfully, north west Sydney suburb with telstra cable results in most reasonable lag to NA. 100-200ms, not too spikey. I imagine it's better then what Jim had, possibly nestea/alicia as well.

Shhhhh, you supposed to say that Aussie internet is horrible and just outplayed them that much harder :p
