If Seeker makes them he usually scores them as 0 if there was not 24 hours notice of the matchups happened. It looks like since we didnt know about these matchups until yesterday that he just skipped making liquibets. That's my assumption though. I haven't asked him specifically about it.

I'd rather see them in Korea
Surprised they left Korea, since Squirtle made ro16 Code S this year and Curious and Losira have been on the brink of qualifying for Code A. At the same time though I can see why NA seems like a greener pasture. Just sucks that they get one qualifier to knock each other out then it's game over for those who couldn't get through

What, 24 hours isn't enough time to find VODs, watch them, analyze the builds and come up with counter strategies, try out the counter strategies with a partner or two, and come up with a plan (i may be missing a few dozen steps in there)?
On July 22 2014 08:34 TotalBiscuit wrote: Next time, more than 24 hours to prepare for a mystery player plz
How come the delay was so short?
I have no idea. They announced the matchups yesterday, for some reason, which imho isn't anywhere near enough time to prepare, particularly when the format is single elimination.

Dunno if you can find many replays of Shana too easily no matter how many hours you have, but yeah 24 hours between match announcements and them being played is ridiculous.

My statement was that had their not been measures to ensure "region locking," making it so Koreans only had to lose a single bo3 (likely to another Korean) in one qualifier to not make it at all then players like Curious, Losira, and Squirtle would surely be playing today. There is no doubt in my mind that if they had been given the opportunity to play in all the qualifiers they would have made it. He made it sound like they bailed on Korea for easy money then got stuffed by some foreigner. Curious lost to Seed, Losira lost to Squirtle, and Squirtle lost to Ryung.

And talk about unfair to those playing today.
Although to be honest Crank should be able to take out a mystery Chinese player in the first place

This is WCS AM, American players and players playing in the American scene should have advantages in qualifying over those who have a WCS region already that they choose not to try to compete in

He should, but PvP is volatile and Shana is executing his builds well. CranK will be extremely pissed off with himself if he loses this.

Even if he didn't have specific builds for Shana that last game was entirely on Crank moving out. Unless you'd argue he wouldn't move there with more than 24 hours time
Wow that was... interesting. Can always rely on the Chinese for some crazy shit.
Also, though only a 24 hour period between announcement and matches is too short, it does affect both players, so it's not like it's an unfair advantage to one side.
Besides, one should reward skill in the game, not in preparation.

i don't understand the logic of when sc2 fans will root for an unknown... sjaak takes up a dreamhack ro16 spot doing wacko builds like proxy 2sg oracle and people love it, but a random chinese player comes out of nowhere and makes AM premier by beating a fairly irrelevant foreign korean and people seem upset?

Crank had a serious back injury at that time and wasn't in the right frame of mind. If he wanted to throw the games it is pretty easy to come up with a "build order loss" in a PvP.

ah well I saw he beat Kangho so he's not as awful as I thought. Since the start of the GSL global championship though he has gone 7–18 (28.00%) in games and 3–11 (21.43%) in matches and looked pretty lost in the majority of the ones I saw

i don't understand vibe trying to be aggressive with a later 3rd hatch... the gold could have let him macro back into the game but he keeps overextending with roaches

Roach pokes are actually pretty useful if you can consistently snipe off spines and opposing roaches with them, but unfortunately, his micro was only decent, and not stellar enough to make the pokes worthwhile.

New ZvZ strategy: Build the Roach Warren out of the way, surround it with Spines, surround the Spines with Spores, then just Roach until you win.
Honestly I'm surprised the meta has lasted as long as it has with roach and double evos being at the front.
Would you rather have the Great Wall of Spina then? I dunno if it would fit properly with, say, a Queen to complete the wall.
Also, I REALLY hope Nate informs Rotti how to pronounce Gemini.
I don't know what I'd switch it out for, but as a zerg I do find my warren sniped often. Even use a few evos. They're cheap enough. Honestly I don't think evos are used enough, I loved blocking that little back entrance on the 3rd of frost with 2 evos.
Eh what you talking about Rotti? No way would Guitarcheese beating Suppy be a bigger surprise than Shana taking out CranK. Guitarcheese and Suppy are pretty evenly matched.

Great play by both players though, rooting for my homeboy Bails but Neeb has been consistently one of the best terrans in NA (always playing on barcodes) for the past year.

On top of immos being pretty decent against tanks, that was also far from the best fight that you could take as Neeb there. Ofc he had won so long ago he probably didn't care much.

Fnatic doesn't promote people from the Academy until they absolutely have to. Zanster and Miniraiser weren't promoted until Naama retired and they realize Harstem was the only non-Academy player they had left.
Everything about Neeb impresses the shit out of me except his Viking control, which is honestly some of the worst I've seen from a progamer. Dude's gonna be absolutely one of the best foreign terrans when he gets a handle on that.

So I just watched a protoss in a game where he could do anything he wanted decide that 3/3 and storm was unneeded. Well I guess that's why challenger is challenger and premier is premier.
Way to go, Neeb. Well played. Very patient to let Bails keep slamming his head into his army knowing he had a massive advantage being up 2 bases and would trade favourably every time.
