If herO beats soO, CJ takes this match.
lol, no skt is favored in every match, expect mabye the first one (depending if bunny can comfirm his strong tvz)
also, hero wont win anyway, so it hardly matters
Assuming Bunny performs as well against Dark as he did the last time we saw him play TvZ, a win against Dark seems quite likely. Now, going along with the scenario where herO beats soO, that puts CJ at 2 map wins and needing 2 more. With Bbyong facing Classic in TvP and Hush facing Rain in his by far best match-up (his record in televised matches this year is 8-0), it doesn't seem unlikely that they can take at least 3 maps with these match-ups. In an ace match, SKT's depth doesn't matter - they can only field one player. Assuming Park doesn't flip and fields Hydra in the ace, both herO and Bbyong could realistically take on most of SKT (Bbyong might struggle against soO, same goes for herO).
I mean, I get that you think SKT is favored, but "lol, no" is taking it a bit far. These are some of the best match-ups CJ could have asked for.

It's hilarious. All Code S lineup by SKT T1 and Paralyze still has 0 appearances this season. Even less than Sacsri, rofl. If Dark wins, SKT will have big edge but Bunny showed sick TvZ against Jin Air last round.
If T1 starts 2-0, then 4-0, if soO or Dark lose, 4-2 with Rain dropping to Hush in PvP.

They still have winners league format on Monday and then Proleague format again if needed.

Has any Zerg made air work against Protoss air? I'm searching my memory banks, all I remember is the occasional successful Infestor switch, like Jaedong vs Patience...

I think that infestors are pretty necessary unless you're way ahead or it catches the protoss off-guard.

Soulkey was scouting for gas at the main. Gas is a necessity to get speed, and thus to do speedling attacks or all-ins. Since he saw none he thought he was free to expand and tech.

No. It merely proves they think they can catch their opponent offguard with it.
That was the biggest stomp in a late game PvT I have seen in the last 2 years... At least in a game where both players should've been about equally good.

It's viable in the same sense that 11/11 proxy barracks is viable. If unexpected, it can often win. But it's a gimmick.

Maru even said that he thinks it's not that bad vs toss, admittedly classic had no idea what he was playing against but it's obviously not impossible to use
Bbyong couldn't not play since he was on the fourth match. (;
But 4-0 to SKT with Bbyong playing on the 4th match ? 4-1 would have been more realistic :p Bbyong is just a monster :p
Ok i aggree Classic was so lost.. The face he did when he scouted the factory was as priceless as the Protoss face in BW when he scouted mass rax (i always forget who it was. Upmagic ?)

Winning Proleague. Turning a sub par team at season 1 into champion. Wish this was EGTL instead.
EGTL seriously just needed a bit more time with him. They were all starting to play super well when Proleague ended
*Sets phaser to irony detection*
I'm serious. Remember all those tournaments right after Proleague ended? Pretty much all of them had EGTL top 4, and they had a lot of other good players there too. Revival, HerO, Oz, Jaedong, Snute, Naniwa all lived in the EGTL house and all were starting to get really good results.
Hell, even aLive got decent again. The way he manhandled Maru at WCS Season 2 Finals (?) was glorious
Btw Rain usually is very solid when he has to win, so I think he'll win for sure. Hopefully too, so we get more games. EffOrt can win though, would like to see him closing it. :D

But individual success =/= team success. I remember Coach Park discussing how the team didn't function as a team because they practiced for tournaments and all.

The players you mentioned could definitely do well in Proleague if that was their priority and they had Coach Park. But since foreign tournaments and the priority for foreign teams, it was never going to work sadly.

By that logic no coach has ever been useful
I really dont think they are except for player coaches. This is not traditional sports.
How about MMA with the help of his coach? Now MMA is nothing compared to his prime.
Do you really think one coach is the reason why MMA dominated for a while?
Yes, considering Woongjin's rise after he joined the team
I just dont see what a coach that is probably masters can contribute strategically. Especially since its a 1v1 game. Do you think Coach Park came up with the builds for herO and Byong?

I just had the craziest thought that nobody's going to give a shit about because it's so late and it's the middle of an LR thread... but so I don't forget, I'll say it anyway.
What if SC2 did more with player/team colors, to make them like actual jerseys?!?! For Proleague this could be as easy as picking one color per team, so Jin Air would obviously be green, etc... but they could make it even cooler, Jin Air isn't just green, their scheme is green and yellow, so what if units could show more than one color? Either Marines wearing green/yellow armor, or green Marines backed up by yellow Marauders, or whatever.
I know this might make ZvZ a bit tougher to follow (depending on how it would be done), but that's a pretty small price to pay for team colors that look like actual sports jerseys, eh?

Actually i've been doing this build and it's quite good even for masters players
It seems like it is just so easy to die to Robo-based all-ins. I am thinking they just scout you and go for it, whether with archon/immo or coloss.
His evaluation of his spot in the game was PERFECT throughout. With these builds he knew there'd be a timing attack available with mass stalkers/sentries if he wanted to commit to it. So he made a round of stalkers and parked them outside Hush's base while expanding. Hush's oracle got denied by overcharge so I don't think he knew what it was at all until Rain didn't attack. By then it's way too late though, Rain forced constant immortal production while expanding and buying enough time with his map control to let his economy and added production kick in. Hush is forced to either expand himself and be behind (opening up the timing attack for Rain) or all in him and die because Rain's army was perfectly engineered to deal with it.

But why doesn't she just have a normal headset so we can hear everything Wolf and she talk about? Especially earlier in the cast, it sounded like Wolf was turning away from his mic to talk to her, and we couldn't hear shit for like 30 seconds at a time.

Yes and that's good. They are slow beucause they are strong, everything needs a weakness. Recall straight out cancels the weakness of the Protoss army. Maybe recall has a place in the game, but it should've a downside. Town Portals in wc3 were cool because they cost 350 gold, it still got stupid sometimes, but at least there was a cost.

Fungal the MSc when it's away from the army. Pull it with a viper. Snipe it. Pretty much nothing in competitive SC2 has zero risk.
You have recall when Corruptors or Vipers are still a long way off. Should be a lategame upgrade or something, any cost or downside at all would be good.

Or just give it to the Mothership only, not the MSC, then Protoss has a reason to make them again.
Recall was given to the MSC so that Protoss can pressure and not risk just totally dying. I think there might be some issues with it, but it is pretty necessary. Also, the downside to it is that you want to cast the other spells (usually time warps, in some instances you need to retreat and to photon overcharge) and you use up the mana.

You can recall a fungaled army.
Fungal the MSc when it's away from the army. Pull it with a viper. Snipe it. Pretty much nothing in competitive SC2 has zero risk.
You have recall when Corruptors or Vipers are still a long way off. Should be a lategame upgrade or something, any cost or downside at all would be good.
shouldn't even be an upgrade, just unlocked with fleet beacon
Or just give it to the Mothership only, not the MSC, then Protoss has a reason to make them again.
The mothership is slow as hell though. That kinda defeats the purpose of recall.

recall is necessary since protoss units are slow
Stalkers are slow?
not as fast as zerglings?
So not as fast as zerglings (one of the fastest in the game) means it's slow and recall is necessary?
let me rephrase. The majority of protoss ground units are slow. If they get caught by a superior zerg army its dead regardless if u have good forcefields. The only exception is blink stalkers but that gets negated by fungal. But I do agree that recall needs some cost
Edit: an example would be MC vs Sacsri game 5. First soul train gets rekt and there is no chance of escape without recall

That downside goes for pretty much EVERY spellcaster no? All three spells are pretty useful so it's a pretty good problem to have looooooooool.

Yeah I thought about that, but you can still use time warp and recall or recall and photonovercharge, I always said it should cost 200 energy, so you really have to decide when to use it. Make it more exclusive. Once you transform it to a Mothership it costs 100 energy again maybe?
They could make the early and mid game MSC/Recall more fair while giving an incentive to make the real Mothership. Anyway that's the last of it on this topic.

It doesn't matter if it goes for every spellcasters, it's not the point. If you lack a photon overcharge, a time warp or a recall in a critical situation you can lose a battle or a game. So choosing when to cast and what to cast is really important. That's a downside.

I know LR threads aren't really the place but I really don't like how they've been going about it with the translator and all.
For whatever it's worth, I think she's in the process of getting a real mic. Her twitter suggested she'd asked for better vocals for the cast tonight once it became apparent she was going to be a fixture.

why is there a premise that if you came attacking you should have an option to just safely return home anyway?

So it's nothing special then, every unit has a downside. Of all the downsides I'd say this doesn't rank high. Plus a full energy MSC grants you 2 spells.

Because Protoss design is such crap that if they can't safely return home, they'll just stay home and never leave for 20 minutes.

pretty much this. And if Protoss gets counter attacked as soon as they move out. It automatically forces a basetrade without recall which is just stupid..
soO, who is orange, spawns in the bottom herO, who is yellow, spawns in the top right
2:00 Nexus first vs Hatchery first. herO pauses.
2:00 Unpause. soO getting a third hatchery and a gas and spawning pool. herO gets a gateway and an assimilator.
3:00 Cybernetics core for herO. herO scouts the third and sends a probe to it.
4:00 Zergling speed for soO. herO hiding a probe. A different probe is being chased by zerglings. An overlord is going towards herO's other probe.
5:00 herO adding on 5 gateways. soO sees a probe hiding. That probe goes to build a pylon and doesn't see the overlord.
6:00 Stalkers being warped in near the third of soO. Roach warren for soO. Two adjacent pylons for herO. herO is on one assimilator. Zealots attack the zerglings. Roaches on the way.
8:00 soO 77 vs herO 66 herO breaks the third base and forces drones to be pulled away. soO going for the army with the drones and zerglings. Roaches finishing. herO kills a bunch of queens.
9:00 soO 70 vs herO 66 soO kills most of the zealots and forces a momentary retreat. soO running out of larva.
10:00 soO 68 vs herO 72 herO runs into the natural. soO has roaches but is just now getting spines in his natural. Spines are killed. Drones are pulled.

not amazing but on point, i usually struggle to not get surrounded by lings on creep and still macro when sieging the 3rd
You don't need to macro that much since u cut probes and u can chronoboost gateways using minimap
people do that via minimap?
No. -> as above noted, yes, you usually end up wasting chrono by double boosting via minimap. That's usually why gates are placed close together so u can shift spam them all really fast then go back to micro.
> Couldn't really believe that choke T_T Very poor spine placement and even after losing third the decision to fight twice in between the dead 3rd and 2nd was very ;~; He still could have played it out had he spined immediately at his natural. Toss has to kill u with that or they're still behind. Oh well, well done by Hero for sure. That build is very strong xD

good question tbh, is boosting "smart" or can you double boost the same gate by accident?
I sometimes chronoboost via minimap buildings that are obvious/important (robo/stargate) and easy to find on it, but usually at some point I lose track of gateways because warpgate makes their placement rather irrelevant (except if you want some extra walls I guess)
You can double chronoboost the same building twice and waste energy.

Yes. Because not all teams can play in the playoffs, only regular round games are counted so that the "Season MVP"-award will be fair. If Maru plays 8 more games than is possible for a player never playing in the round playoffs, you would have to be on the "right" team to have a chance at becoming the MVP.
