Trap defends on 4 bases a lot and manages to not die. That's the first thing. Then he uses DTs to kill Scarlett's outlying expansions. She's down to equal bases with him, more or less. And all this time, he has been building the perfect composition. She kept making mutas, her minerals were too low, and his composition was just vastly superior. That, and his control was superb in avoiding fungals etc. She could have won, probably should have, but his play was flawless in that situation, doing everything he needed to. With spore/spine at her bases she would have been in a much better position.

I'm stoked she's playing this well. Disappointed about the loss vs Trap in a game she could have won? Of course, but sooner or later mathematical probability will have its due.

But if you go into a bracket where you have to win 5-6 BoX vs good Koreans, even assuming you are every bit as good as any of the individually, odds are one of them is going to have your number some way along that path. A BO win, an unscouted all in, a really strong game from your opponent when you made some mistakes(as we just saw), all the stuff that happens when elite Koreans play each other. And when you are the only foreigner against 7+ Koreans most of them time, it's just a matter of mathematics, you won't be able to win that may games against really good players back to back unless the stars align. What we just saw was an incredibly performance. Over the last weeks she's beaten Taeja/MMA/Hyun/Ragnarok/DRG/Life/MC/Stork/Patience/Polt/Violet etc. I know people here are going to shit on her now that she lost and just generally be assholes while ignoring all she actually did, but that's just the internet. I'm happy about this result, and if you are a Scarlett fan so should you, because this is really about as much as we can hope for given the state of the game. You're totally right. Unfortunately for us, for a foreign hope to triumph, being as good as the Koreans (as Scarlett is) isn't good enough if she's the only champion we have. The numbers just don't add up. There's also a second truth though that I also realize. As good as these opponents are at this MLG, this isn't the top of the pyramid either. There's maybe only one to three players that you could argue could make a GSL Code S. Trap is one of them. The rest of these guys are Code A level. The gap between them and the guys at the very top is well....... Starcraft is tough, and the top Korean pros are just fucking good at it.

I get rooting for someone from your own country, but the fact that so many people don't even want to watch a tournament because one nationality is good at the game seems wrong to me. Marginally, but I understand that people like rooting for underdogs in a lot of situations.

Oh trust me, I've had my fair share of rants on this subject. I've used some pretty harsh language too, it's incredible I haven't been warned for it already.
