Nope that's ridiculous, all the good players should go to Korea even though the only tournaments to take part in are 3 GSL's in an entire year and a couple of smaller events that you can get invited to by playing outside Korea. This isn't 2011, people need to wake up and realize that the GSL circuit means very little in today's sc2 world.

Not like skill is a single thing anyways. Players have different skill-sets, some are good at preparation and others at weekend tournaments. I know that's a pretty banal things to say, but you have to put it into perspective. I'll gladly make the claim that TaeJa could beat most of WCS KR in a weekend tournament setting easily. They on the other hand might have the upper hand in GSL format. Which one is more skilled? It's too easy to say GSL, imho. They're both of value.

Be...cause they're too busy proving it by placing highly in the GSL? Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE more crosspollination between the regions, if for no other reason than so GSL Koreans can earn more WCS points as they deserve!

If they can't play just as well outside Korea as they can inside it then they're just weak. The most successful players of all time have been able to place well consistently inside and outside Korea.

Those leagues are more prestigious and I wouldn't quite give Taeja the crown just yet, but there is a point where the quantity of lesser tournament wins begins to surpass a few quality tournament wins imo. TL naming Taeja as player of the year in 2013 for instance I could agree with, even if he didn't win a gsl or anything. Foreign tournaments require their own type of skill too. We've seen guys like Flash, RorO and TY come and get smashed at these.

When there were 9 GSL's in 2011 we still saw the top GSL players at international events.
