He stomped his ro32 group and though he lost to sOs in the ro16 he really outclassed RorO 4-0. I don't often say outclassed either, but it's highly appropriate with regards to both of those bo3s The concern is whether he's fixed his ZvP or not. We haven't really seen much that's indicative of anything lately in that regard. He held off some half-assed all-ins from Yonghwa and got screwed by the wacky play of sOs in his last 2 series against toss. | ||

Including the Super tournament, GSL WC, and the Blizzard Cups By Mvp ofc. 2011 August final against Top, followed up by 2011 October final against MMA. edit: scratch that, DRG did it too. 2011 Blizzard Cup final vs MMA into 2012 s1 vs Genius. | ||

If you win your group while only losing a map in one series, you didn't 'barely survive'. I agree that he hasn't looked stellar against Protoss and looked mediocre today, but getting to a GSL finals in any way that doesn't include opponents forfeiting is a lot better than not advancing at all >.> | ||

Honestly, there weren't too many outliers this season if that's what you mean by champ material. Seem to sadly less of those as time goes on, where numerous people could win the season. There weren't many with the same aura as Flash/Bogus/Life/Soulkey in s1 of WCS, or Nestea/Mvp in their primes, or DRG/MMA late 2011/early 2012. I suppose if I'm really stretching it Soulkey still had the feel for his consistency, but even he didn't strike me as unbeatable. So in terms of form I'd say they feel like champs relative to the pool of players we have right now. In terms of story I only find Life interesting. We might finally see the first 3x Zerg champ since Nestea. | ||
