Feel free to point to the rule that I broke with my first post.
Here's something you would notice if you had read the rules
6. Respect forum veterans.
All other things being equal, we will give preferential treatment to site members who have been with us longer. This doesn't mean they get to do whatever they want, but they do get the benefit of the doubt. The same goes for "known" professional players or personalities. If we know you and you've been around and contributed, you are much less likely to have your posts or account moderated.
In practice, this policy means a user who has thousands of posts can get away with breaking a few minor rules with just a warning while a new user might be banned. Is this unfair? Probably. But that's how it works here, longevity and contribution are rewarded.

I have thousands of posts too. Roughly 800 less than you. Point? I got banned and warned for the simplest things. So sorry, I did read the rules.
The rules being broken would be this imo
2. Follow forum etiquette.
Use common sense and treat others like you would want to be treated. This doesn't mean you can't argue or even flame someone. However, flames are largely discouraged and we expect people to have a good reason to resort to harsh language. Gratuitous swearing, insults, or trolling will get you banned. If you must flame, be smart or creative about it, and make sure the flame was deserved. In general, you'll never go wrong by being nice, polite, and mature.
There is a general etiquette that is followed on the forums that you can only learn through reading and posting, but here are a few important examples:
Jokes at the expense of someone's race, gender, or sexual orientation are not acceptable DO NOT POST IN ALL CAPS. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE SCREAMING Post your topics in the appropriate forum. If you can't find a topic you created, it might have been closed. Don't spoil the results of games, sporting events, movies, books, etc in the title of the thread, and don't spoil in posts unless the thread is clearly a discussion that warrants it. Don't be a drama queen or martyr. Our forums aren't colonial America or Tiananmen Square. "This is going to get me banned, but..." results in an automatic ban. Use the Search Function before making a new thread to make sure there isn't already a topic. Memes, even TL-generated ones, are annoying. There are plenty of places to go if you want to see pictures of people failing or a caption attached to a cat. Our forums are not one of those places.

There is not a single component of Rule 2 that I broke. You seem to be mistaking being blunt for being offensive. I realise that some people hold the view that their opinion is a sacred thing but I don't share that view and in my experience opinions are only as valuable as the number of people you can get to take them seriously. Had you read my original post, you would notice that it is an appeal for common sense via way of a little dose of reality and does not violate any of the forum rules.
I'd point out that you are violating rule 3 by being a backseat moderator but then that would make me a backseat moderator

I am sure someone said "Soulkey surely threw away the first 3 games vs innovation to give him an advantage, he's such a boss!" but no one took it seriously. Everything got heaten up because major didn't spot an obvious joke and reacted irrationally. And by the way the fact that someone might be a good team manager means nothing in knowledge of actual game mechanics (which you must have a very good grasp of in order to argue, according to what TB said). Good Major, you're easily the best non-kr terran and without using a cheesy style. Just don't read obvious jokes as personal attacks (no one could possibly have thought that Taeja lost on purpose, am I not right?).

While he is an extremly good foreign terran, saying he is easily the best is just wrong IMHO, Dayshi defeated San in WCS just last week and Happy defeated Jjakji in a bo5, while forgetting Stim+Combat shield and Bunny knocked out Naniwa. They should get their fair share of respect as well.

When did I shit on every forum users opinion? I think I was rather specific as to which forum users opinion I shit on and that's because it was awful to begin with. His post was dreadful, as was the post Major replied to. It deserved all the scorn it got.

For what it's worth TB, I'd like to say you make excellent points. Don't get dragged into this too much, your point stands already and sometimes people just don't want to accept it :p
As for MajOr, he played well. Sadly he couldn't finish it out. Would've been cool to see.

To be fair what MajOr said was far worse than what the other guy said. The other guy is an idiot but that doesn't excuse MajOrs actions.

It absolutely excuses Majors actions. You would need to be an unfeeling robot with no empathy of any kind not to excuse Majors actions. He comes off a hard loss, having won the first series, a repeat of what happened to him last year and some shithead decides to post complete bullshit about his win. That guy deserved everything he got and more. Majors actions were NOT unprovoked.

That's why it's best not to read TL or Reddit. It's filled with bronze league balance whiners. You're one of the best, if not THE best, foreign Terrans in the world. Good job, keep the Terran race alive! MajOr fighting!!!

The original post was simply banter and bravado from a Taeja fan. If I had to guess, he never even expected Major to read it. I'm not saying what he said was anywhere near justified but for so many people to immediately jump his case for a post similar to hundreds of others sucks for him. Sorry Major for the tough loss :/ you'll be back stronger next season.
|
TB did not violate any rules of forum decorum. Major's outburst was a little over the line, but considering the circumstances I think we can cut Juan some slack here. Just let it go, it's text on the internet, I'm sure we can all cope with Major being understandably upset after some snide comments.

Well guess what? People tend to act slightly impulsively when something that is very important to them gets attacked..
I think most people in this thread can't comprehend how it feels for MajOr. I played professionally myself and felt pretty shit after far less important losses. I can only begin to imagine how this is for MajOr right now. Winning vs Taeja and then still getting knocked out by him... after which people start to discredit his plays and achievements? That sucks man. I don't think you realize how much it sucks.
