Maru misread, thought it was a blink allin, and was on the defensive. At one point in the game he had 18 marines vs 1 stalker 1 sentry and 1 msc from Zest in army size.
When he realised Zest had a third and went scv allin, it was too late as Zest's gateway explosion just started. That being said, it was still quite close.

Perfect liquibet, almost perfect (one -1) fpl. Feels good man.

Nobody is denying that Zest is an amazing player and played that almost perfectly.
Just so depressing to see game after game after game of 1 side winning.

If you scout what Maru scouted you HAVE to react.
If Zest is being aggressive and Maru doesn't react he dies. That's just how strong Protoss aggressive options are.
Zest abused the metagame, it's becoming a super common thing to do.
The problem is that if you flip the coin and try and call their bluff and you're wrong, you die.
That's the sum up of the problems with PvT. Protoss has too many options and Terran has too few.
This game was actually the best example I can think of of the ACTUAL problems with the match up. So many others are just down to execution but this one Maru made all of the correct calls but was just late on everything because he HAD to take precautions in case of a Protoss All In. Protoss is just too flexible in the early game of the match up and a player like Zest can just abuse that.

Maru just needs to play more like Polt, obviously

There is none, all Protoss needs is their MSC at home if they suspect aggression. Asymmetric balance. edit: and we do have fake drops etc
Asymmetric balance where one side has many more options can lead to imbalance.
Fake drop is a lot different, all Protoss needs is the MSC and then wrap in once they see how many units are dropped.

The reason that he had to all in was because he did not see the third until it was way to late for him to play standard himself. If he scouted that then he can either all in much earlier before the third nexus pays off and probably win or take his own third and the game goes on. Maru's decision to all in was predicated by his lack of scouting nothing else.

Probably just trolls trying to bait an argument. Zest is good yo.

Maru should just lift off all his buildings in response to the BM by Zest.

I'm just glad we ended the day on an exciting game. The rest of the matches today were pretty ho hum, to be honest =/

He just got three SCVs sniped when he tried to leave the base to scout. The first one saw a Stalker and a Sentrie moving towards his base so he threw down an additional bunker. The second got instand sniped by an oracle and the third one got sniped halfway across them map.
Not easy scouting, really - unless randomly scanning.

Flash lose to Maru,
Flash upset
Zest win Maru.
Zest all kill.
Zest appear in Act match
Flash 9 points . . .
Too much feelings.. . . . . . . . . . .
Hope there is sum1 who share same feeling as me.

problem is that coinflips are too strong/reliable scouting is too weak in sc2. only zerg actually gets the info that they need early game, or a protoss blindly opening oracles.
|
I also find it funny that when Flash lost against PartinG because of that exact same build, the thread was full of "omg Flash was so outplayed", "what are you even doing," etc. Hilarious double standards.
