He lost to MMA, Rain, ForGG, Life, Mana & Dayshi this year, so four times lost when he was about even with his opponent and twice when he was favoured. But then, he beat Stardust, Patience, Mana (second time), Solar, Hero (relevant now), Bomber & Curious and all the other people he was favoured against. Are there any non-Protoss player who have looked really good in 2014 so far? Maybe TY, Maru, Soulkey & Roro, but they're all confined to Proleague where they all won/lost some games as well (Besides TY, who lost in Code A).

His last tournament he looked really bad in his last series but played well overall, and so far in this tournament he has been playing very well. He's been playing off and on, he slid through vs patience mistakes (not including the last game), he lost to fucking mana (who is very good but no where on the level of jd)

If Soulkey got knocked out in the Ro16 of the GSL most would see that as a failure. For other players, just getting there would be a great achievement.

Nope, you have a hard time understanding that a "gold league play" is a "gold league play" even if it is made by a top 5 Terran. Innovation used a really bad build in game 1 and made a really weird decision to lose game 3. See those are actions and they can be evaluated on their objective merit. Similar to QXC throwing away his game three because he didn't spread his army and instead "A Moved" in. That's a sub Masters league play. That doesn't mean QXC is a sub masters player, but his bunched army into colossus was a "gold league a move" terran attack. Critiquing an action is not attacking the ability of a player, its evaluating the action.
