I’ve suddenly realized what a single elimination means. Capitan Obvious gives a hint: 8 players will be eliminated in the first round. No losers match, no losers bracket. One minute you are fighting for the main trophy of 2013 and $100k, a second later you are out. Basically no one has a right to make any mistakes and yet 8 very good players who deserve to be on the top of the world won’t have second chance. Just think about it. You will not see both MVP and Jaedong in quarterfinals. We will not admire the MC’s confidence and Maru’s cuteness at the same time in Ro8. In other words 8 peoples’ dreams and hopes will be crushed in the first round. And that’s why I don’t see them as individuals right now. I see them as a team of gladiators who will be thrown into arena to battle against each other while we will be watching this death feast. And I want to think that players hope not only to win it all but show us games that will be remembered for months if not for years. In fan interviews there is a question: if you could tell a pro one thing before his match at Blizzcon, what would it be? I have the answer. But I’d like to say these words not only to one player (Bomber), but to all of them. I don't know what to say really. One day to the biggest battle of 2013, all comes down to this day. Some of you are going to lose. Pixel by pixel, expo by expo till you're finished. You are in hell right now, gentlemen. Believe me. You can stay here and get the shit kicked out of you or you can fight your way back into the light. You can climb out of hell. One pixel at a time. Now I can't do it for you. My apm is too slow. You find out that life is just a game of pixels. So is StarCraft. Because in either life or StarCraft the margin for error is too small. I mean, one stim too late or too early you don't quite make it. One half second too slow or too fast and you don't quite blink it. The pixels you need are everywhere around you. They are in every pause of the game, every minute, every second. On this day, you fight for that pixel. On this day, you tear yourselves to pieces for that pixel. Cause you know when you add up all those pixels that's going to make the fucking difference between WINNING and LOSING, between LIVING and DYING. That's StarCraft, guys. That's all it is.
