n00b gaming may want to offer an explanation now before this turns into a public shitstorm. You can't ignore this, it won't go away. We will keep demanding an explanation and the more you hold off the more likely to irreparably damage your reputation and make it impossible to hold any future events. Don't make matters worse for yourself and offer an explanation to those who you have cost a lot of money. An apology is not enough.

Hm, I basically told the someone from the organisation to explain the actual reasons behind the cancellation or their name will be forever mud in this industry, and he basically said no to that. Not sure whether they're covering for an individual's fuckup, or something else entirely.

Well this whole thing is pretty unfortunate. I feel bad for everyone who was planning to go. It's a shame that, with smaller organizations, you really don't know who you're getting into bed with until you've already been fucked.
