Cork is nicer than Dublin IMO, unless you are travelling from somewhere in Ireland you can fly to it just as conveniently as Dublin I would have thought, it's the second city not some backwater.

The reason i was asking so many questions at the start was because i knew this was a hoax, i highly doubt the event was sponsored by any of those big name sponsors and i'm nearly 100% sure that the money this tournament were offering isn't correct and they cannot afford to pay out this huge prize pool. The fact that they are trying to do another tournament in a few weeks time with a much smaller prize pool makes no sense what so ever? whats going to happen to the money that was supposedly going to be given out at this tournament?
Also noobcon have completely fucked themselves over now because no-one is ever going to trust this event again and lots of people have wasted alot of money on this event that is now not going to happen..

Even if in a few weeks you post noobcon 2nd tournament i guarntee you are going to get no partisipants because people will not want to take the risk of losing £££ again..
what a shame for the people who have payed out money etc but like i said me and a few friends saw this a mile off which is why our teams wont send us..

Fucked up BIG time, this was supposed to help shape the scene in Ireland for eSports, which would have positive impacts in future events. Now it's just a massive disappointment, and people are out of pocket because of the incompetence of the organizers. Do you think this + the Veralynn fiasco makes Ireland look like a fertile place for eSports? Absolute joke.

I don't mind speculation, I just hate the ones 'I knew from the beginning' when they were posting HOW EXCITED THEY WERE.

The flights, hotels are an issue that I feel people's pain for. In my case I just miss a weekend of wages which is unrecoverable.

I run a big Fbook group of the Northern players and they've been reporting that their ticket refunds have been sorted pretty promptly, so at least that is something.

To paraphrase a wiser man than I, 'Don't attribute to malice what can be attributed to incompetence.'

I doubt its a hoax if blizzard gave them a license to run the tournament without ensuring they had the sponsorship support. They even advertised this on their facebook page, but they will need a good reason to save some face on this.

I wonder if it had anything to do with HSC clashing with it

We would again like to express our sincerest apologies. This is the last thing that we wanted to do and we are all devastated by the tough but necessary decision we had to make. We are aware that everyone is looking for a specific reason as to why this happened, but as this would lead to shifting of blame, we feel this would only be counter-productive. There have been multiple issues facing us since the beginning, however due to the excellent support and dedication of those behind us, we have, again and again, been able to push through these and fix them. Unfortunately they did not stop occurring and despite the contingency plans we had in place, this went beyond what we would physically have been able to shoulder. In relation to companies that have been involved in this, all have been informed prior to making the decision. All have been very supportive and helpful in light of the situation that arose, and this has been invaluable to us. Companies involved have been very understanding and we do still have support for the future. Our aim will be to continue to work to build eSports in Ireland.
