Missed the tournament's announcement? Click reddit for the reddit thread or VorpalChallengeNews for our official website.
The Four players that will be attending The Vorpal Bulgar Challenge are *elfi*, *Giantt*, * DayShi* and *MetHiX*!
Samuli "elfi" Sihvonen - A player who has been active since the beginning of Starcraft II, elfi's results keep getting better. Just this year he has already been a top 8 finisher at two DreamHacks and is currently taking part in WCS EU. He has done great at multiple events, but has yet to claim a trophy for himself. Will this be his first LAN victory?
Twitter
Danail "Giantt" Lazov - The most successful Bulgarian Starcraft II player, Giantt had some great results in Wings of Liberty, finishing fourth in the WCS Combined European Nationals and reaching the Ro16 at Dreamhack Bucharest, losing 1:2 to the eventual winner Nerchio. He has recently fallen off the map, but after winning the most recent Bulgarian LAN event by beating most of the good Bulgarian players, is he back for good?
Twitter
Antoine "Dayshi" Stievenart - Dayshi has recently received a lot of attention surrounding his team league performances, being dubbed "The Korean Killer" by some, but he has yet to have a very deep run in an individual tournament. He has shown time and time again he can compete with the best, will this be his tournament?
Twitter
Vaklin "MetHiX" Petkov - MetHiX has long been one of the best Bulgarian pros, regularly trading games with Giantt, BateToshko, EtherNaL and others, but has yet to land it big and have a deep run in a large international event. In the Bulgarian scene he is the most consistent Protoss player, but will that be enough? Will this be the tournament where his skill finally shines?
Twitter
By the way for those that missed it, the qualifiers will be moved to 12-13th of October, because we are not allowed to stream during the WCS EU Ro8.
Stream details will be announced this Thursday!

Is the tournament on? The stream seems to be offline.
|
|
It says "Please stand by. We're experiencing technical difficulties". Does that mean it's not available from my location?
E: Nevermind. Now it's working.
|
Is there any place where I could find the results, or have any of the games even been played yet?
|
|
I guessed someone links this :D Nothing has been updated there, and I'm looking for the results to update the LP page :p

Hey guys! I am going to help out the organizers a bit and just post here in case this information is absent from anywhere else:
Tomorrow the last 6 matches of the group stage will be played (from a group with 6 people where everyone plays one another). Afterwards the top 3 highest finishes from the group will enter a playoff bracket/stage.
The remaining group matches are as follows:
- BateToshko : stakimaN
- Dayshi : Giantt
- elfi : MetHiX
- BateToshko : Giantt
- MetHiX : stakimaN
- elfi : Dayshi
For the playoffs the group 2nd and 3rd finishers will fight each other to face the 1st group finisher in the playoff finals.
This will start after 8-9 hours and will continue for the whole day! (or until the games are over)

I hope you cheer for the up-and coming bulgarian players and enjoy the high level of production/casting and observing! Thank you!
ps: The event (with streamlinks) will be visible on the TL calendar for the whole day tomorrow (starting 8-9 hours) after this post. ps2: Something that will be fixed is the current scoreboard of the matches. (for example in a bo3 for the 2nd game there will be a 1:0 somewhere in the overlay)

also, nice ghost control from dayshi right now
somehow wins fight with 2-1 vs 3-3, going from 30 supply deficit from 15 supply advantage
|
Sick game, Dayshi is playing really impressive!

I think that was more elfi going back and fourth the whole time without fully committing. But then, he could have killed Dayshi 5 mins ago already, when it was 26Zealots+Archons vs 1 Ghost, 3 Marauders and 4 Marines.

He was a merciful god this game. Expect him to come back in game three.

Sick game, sick crowd, sick casting, this event deserves 20 times the viewers!
|
That game was pretty cool in the end.
|
What a great comeback, cheering for Dayshi!
|
Elfi threw game 2 so hard, he could have just rolled over Dayshi or taken fourth but he did neither one Well game 3 is still there for him to take
|
Elfi could have won that game easily. His storms in the end hit nothing but own units ;(
|
|
Did Dayshi cut SCVs entierly? Was at like 34 as the attack hit, very low.
5 bunkers is a lot, but no repair and it's not enough.
|
That widow mine killed all the scvs at the front that were there to repair.

e: if it could have been targeted on the sentries...
|
5 bunkers and that sixgate prevails. Elfi OP, nerf pls.
|
@M_Dayshi
6 gate, 6 bunkers and SCV. guess who wins :D
he be mad :D
|
He was still manner enough to shake elfi's hand after the match (although he didn't look happy and said something - nothing obvious enough to lip read)
|
Dayshi had pretty few scv and not single one repairing.
|

He would not have enought ff to ff all bunkers.

Is it just my iPad or is this a video tape quality loop made in PowerPoint 2007?

Why would you engage on the creep ?

The schedule on the website says there should be 250€ mini tournament before the semifinal and the final. If the schedule is not correct, does anyone know at which time is the final of the main tournament?
E: Got the info from the stream chat. Final is about to start. It's 15:00 GMT (+00:00).
|
Even though Dayshi is winning, BateToshko is playing very well.
|
|
|
Poor Dayshi.
|
Poor elfi didn't get a trophy for his first tournament win. :<
Gratz though. Was a solid tournament overall.
|

Gratz though. Was a solid tournament overall. Iron Squid style ! But if he gets the same type of trophy it's worth it. :D
And I agree, it was nice to see an offline SC2 tournament in a country we're not used to see in the scene. Good work and let's hope for a second one !
|
Thanks for the tournament!
|
When will you upload the replays ?
|
Overall the tournament was great. Everything from organisation's side was non stop improving while the tournament was going on.
Just got back from there and I'd want to say thanks a lot to the organizers and the sponsors of the tournament who made it possible!
I believe all of the players were more than satisfied with the environment and everything.
The best tournament held in Bulgaria for sure.
After the tournament I briefly talked to the guys who stand behind the event and they told me that they think of doing such thing again, hopefully soon.
I believe everything will be better and finally we'll be able to attend a tournament which can be compared with some of the best tournaments.
And - Congrats to Elfi! I was cheering for him because of the protoss power in his vains Great games! gg more re
|
That was a great tournament even if Dayshi lost in final !
|
I don't quite play sc2, but i enjoyed hanging with those guys around so much! The event felt amazing for me ^.^ If there's another one, I seriously hope FunKa will talk with the guy and brings a KT/CJ/whatever korean progaming team keyboard/mouse bag for me ~ . ~ ;
