I don't even think its that close, when you factor in everything from talent level, to hype/fan interest, to production quality, to the quality of the games. But, that will be overshadowed if Day 3 is a bust. Here's hoping that no matter who wins, the quality of play stays as high as its been. Not enough Mvp for it to be the best tournament of all time It's in my top 5 though

The quality of games in this tournament seems a bit better (more close series) but GSL S4 2012 is more stacked and has better storyline ![]()

It had a lot of stories to follow (the greatest culminating in Life vs MVP), but fell a bit short on the games. Personally, I found S1 of 2012 (the one DRG won) to be the best for not only the stories but the games as well. The first season of the year is always good it seems (2011 and 2013 kicked ass as well). Maybe it's because players are off for so long and there's such a sc2 drought for the viewers during that period.

From the Ro8 onwards, it almost didn't matter if the game was bad, it was still insanely entertaining because of the stories. DongRaeGu vs. Genius was cool, but the series was pretty lackluster (I remember a double stargate build and some mutalisk games... not the best games). How can you compare with the rise of Life, the rise of KeSPA/Rain, the Summer of TaeJa, the reign of Mvp? Holy fuck I still remember the Ro8 like it was yesterday. Mvp vs. Symbol. TaeJa vs. Leenock. HerO vs. Rain. MarineKing vs. Life. Then the Ro4: TaeJa vs. Life. Mvp vs. Rain. Then Mvp vs. Life.

I mean yeah few if any stories match the experienced veteran who miraculously won round after round as the underdog(MVP) vs the rising royal roader who is destroying everything (Life). Especially since MVP made the finals unexpectedly close (really should have won tbh in that last game). Still, I suppose it's just what you prefer. Stories are great but gameplay is the real meat in my book. Looking back at S1 of 2012, that one I feel went the opposite way that things usually go where things tend to heat up from the ro8+. Instead every single group in the ro32 and ro16 was good and the ro8+ is where it started to get a tad one-sided and dull (outside of Gumi vs DRG): http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2012_Global_StarCraft_II_League_Season_1/Code_S story-wise it wasn't nearly as cool as MVP vs Life, but there were still quite a few interesting ones: Who will sit the Zerg throne? Will MMA repeat? Will we see DRG vs MMA again? Is MVP beginning to slump? The Birth of PartinG. Also probably one of my favorites of that season because I LOVED the result: Is ForGG a sign of things to come from Kespa? (nope)

Jaedong @EGJaedong STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM NOW I'M HERE. He actually wasn't that good when he first switched over, but he's steadily improved. He had to get into WCS Challenger League through qualifiers, work his way up to Premier League, reached Premier League Finals, qualified for Season Finals, and now could possibly win the entire thing. He's recently had a string of second place finishes, though, so him winning this and/or BlizzCon would be really awesome return to the top. Edit: If he wins this, doesn't this make him the first player to have won both a premier BW tournament and a premier SC2 tournament?

But interestingly enough, neither ForGG, nor Flash won anything, only got 2nd and lower finishes. And so did JaeDong. BW premier tournament curse confirmed.

I was about to say ForGG, but I'm surprised to see he has not won a premier (could've sworn he won a DH, but I guess not). So yes, JD would be the first as far as I know.
