These weren't even cheeses though, they were well thought out openings that were not all in at all.
The first game he simply outmaneuvers innovation and timing attacks him. not a cheese.
the second game he does dropship play and outmicros innovation badly, who loses his widow mine for zero reason. not a cheese.
the third game he KNOWS innovation can't resist the easy backdoor expo and goes for the perfect build to counter it. arguably a cheese, but really just a smart build for the map.
4th game lol if anyone considers this cheese

I dunno, Innovation shows such domination when he wins, and when he loses it's so one-sided and goofy it's hard to know how to weigh its significance.
I think his reverse-sweep loss to SK showed more weakness than his loss to Maru, since TvZ is his best matchup and one he should be comfortable in. With TvT however, the patch shook everything up and it's clear Inno will have to take some time to get a handle on the matchup.
Yea. So if he wins like a beast and loses like a noob i guess you can locate him somewhere in the middle. He had a very short span of dominance now. Let's see what happens. Concerning your question about who is number one: I guess every race has its very strong players. Terran has Inno/Flash/MVP (yes, NEVER ever count MVP out), Zerg has Soulkey and Life, Protoss has Rain (most solid player that the Protoss race has ever had i think) and maybe Sora soon (i like sOs but hes a little too gimicky for my taste)? Innovation has been a monster for quite an extended period of time by SC2 standards. Hell at the end of Wings he was one of the few Terrans winning TvZs. He also plays relatively few tournament, SPL and the Korean individual leagues, and has pretty much placed top 4 in all of them for a big span.
It's a few poor series not necessarily meaning he's not the premiere player in the world at the minute.
It's not really fanboyism on my part, just there is no other player that has a better claim to the number 1 spot. I'd like to see an argument be made for others, but people haven't really been able to make it.

I think Rain has been consistently good. He was unlucky falling right out of GSL back then, but I don't think there has been a period where he has played "bad".
Now he's back in semi's.
And innovation..yes he has been pretty dominant for a while. You can't expect him to win every tournament but losing only the last series 4-0 is not to say he is not a premier player, and candidate to best of the world still. I would wait a bit longer to judge!

Innovation is on an 0-6 TvT slide, that isn't something that can be ignored. He needs to learn how to play TvT without hellbat drops.

Rain is one of my favourites, indeed I like him more than Inno. I think he needs to win the OSL and the WCS season finals to supplant Innovation

Innovation himself has his fair share of cheesy play.

His problem vs Bomber is that Bomber is a god and there's no way he could have won no matter what build he picked.
