Errr, at MLG Dallas he was carefully picking off widow mines and splitting his units just like he does now. Besides the faster lair timing he's not playing any differently.

He's playing less economically and more tech focused due to hellbat drops, he doesn't want to build roaches vs Hellbats, so he rushes Mutas, and tries to hold with ling/spine until they are out.

He was doing 2 base spire in WoL. He never built roaches against hellbat drops except for the Sjow series. The only thing that's different is that he getting fast 2 base spire instead of delayed 3 base spire but I don't see any "confidence" issue here. Terran is much defensively stronger in HotS, lacking that "confidence" is a good thing.

Proxy rax, Life was late noticing Kop was going mech, Kop had the bank and production at the end still lost. both games had two similar ideas from Kop: attempt at an aggressive opening, disruption, fall back on a 3 base economy and try and hold off the counterswing from Life's mutalisks. the biggest problem was that both games he chose to commit in both games versus Life's counterattacks. Life patiently waited outside Kop's front gates and waited for the armies to move out on SS and AW. as soon as he saw that happen he pounced. both games Kop's decision to attack was hesitant, on Akilon Wastes he briefly tried to go back but decided to play the base race. kop kept putting life and himself in frantic scenarios, where life is often strongest because he remains calm under pressure.
