The style of this tournament is based off of the TV show "Survivor", but if you are unfamiliar that's okay! It's been set up in such a way that even those without prior knowledge should be able to pick it up quickly. We will be bringing you lots of interviews, team discussions, and game play through the next 2 months.
The primary goal of this tournament is to produce some fun, and original content for not just the players, but also the viewers. We want to try to capture that "homestory cup feel" and bring you guys a little closer to the players. Please don't be shy about leaving feedback on the event as things progress, we do value opinions!
The initial prize pool for this event will be 250$. First place: 70% Second place: 20% Third & Fourth place: 5% each
There will be an open community jar for this event where 100% of the donations will go directly to the overall prize pool. (Please see the community involvement section below for more details. You can also visit this link to go directly to the donation page)
Every week will feature two different sets of challenges, one for reward, and one for immunity. Players will not have advance knowledge of what games, or what format will played be beforehand. There will be a mix of everything though from Raynor parties, 1v1's, KOTH's and more! The losers of the immunity game(s) will be forced to attend Tribal Council.
Reward: This challenge will often help a team/player either by giving them an advantage going into the immunity challenge, or a personal benefit.
Immunity: Winners of the immunity challenge will be immune to voting when Tribal Council comes to session. When in team format, this means that team does not have to vote any of their players out that week, and when in solo format, that player may not be voted out.
Tribal Council: Teams/Players will be forced to vote out one of their own every week in this session. After a set number of players have been voted out of the game, the two teams will merge into one and the game will be more about self survival, than team.
The game will start with 10 players, but after 4 have been voted out, the next 4 will becomes members of the Jury that will determine who wins the game at the very end. ("Even votes issues" explained in the community section below)
We've invited a mixed list of varied players & personalities from North America (+ one viking). Since there's going to be a good mix of both custom & regular Starcraft 2 games played, nobody has a distinct advantage!
This is the big one guys. First and foremost, any contributions you make to the prize pool through donations goes entirely to these players, which is why the prize pool is percentage based. Most importantly though, when the game comes down to only 2 players remaining, two new tip jars will be opened up for players A & B. 100% of player A's donations go directly to player A, not the over all prize pool, same for player B. However, whomever's tip jar has more will be the 5th vote in our jury (Community gets a vote). (example: Player A has 15$ in his jar, while Player B has 25$. The vote will go in favour of player B)
We'll be updating the thread when events are scheduled to be broadcast, you can watch on our twitch channel, but of course all episodes will be available on youtube as well!
If you've ever stopped by BaseTradeTV's stream before, you'll know the one thing we pride ourselves in most is our chat. While we hope to see lots of people rooting for, cheering on, and discussing their favourite players during these events, I do want to take a moment to remind everyone to be courteous even though there will certainly be a few moments / votes / decisions you do not agree with.

But why vote him out early, if you know someone like Sasquatch will be harder to deal with later since he might just win all the solo immunity idols ;D? There's some deeper strategy than simply winning.

Yeah, but it'll be really hard to win if you lose all your games.
Cool idea. Hoping you can record some strategy interviews that aren't released until after the event is over, so people can reveal their actual strategies rather than the blander stuff they'd say for stuff that's going to be released before the end.

We plan to have lots of bonus footage. There's going to be more emphasis on players + interactions than anything else. :-)
I'm still clueless about this whole Survivor thing, I don't watch much tv. But I'm guessing this will be way way more entertaining than the tv thing anyway ^^
This is the only pre-release footage we're letting out, but here's a sneak peek at the type of "outside the game" interactions you guys can expect to see. I present to you, "the reason name selection took so long!" (and if you're really clever, you can probably already tell who's on which team)
I would also like to give a shout out to Partouf for being the first person to contribute to the SC2 Survivor prize pool! http://www.mapcontrol.co/donate.php

Oh, god, this is so good. I can't stop laughing! PuCKs laugh <3<3

Have fun yo!
Wait you are actually going to sleep at a hotel during a LAN ? AHAHAHAAHAH I don't think you got the appeal of a LAN then :p Its after 2;00 that the party begins.
Please note, due to previous/other tournaments/commitments, some of the Survivors can't compete for a week or so, thus rather than having very 1 sided challenges, we'll be taking a 1 week hiatus for filming, and come back in September with a different air time
I know I've said this before, but things just keep on getting crazier and crazier in the Survivors' worlds.
Can reformed Tfarcrats overcome being down a player in tonight's challenges? Will Suppy lead kaitlyn and Massan to victory? Or will Tubby, Tempo, Puck, and Brent ride the momentum and continue their winning ways?
There's only one way to find out - as always, drama, strategy, and Starcraft will converge to determine who will be voted out tonight. Tune in to see if your favorite survivor stays in the game, or to see if they get betrayed :D
Omg, this is so awesome, I LOVE Survivor, the whole concept, the mindgames, the puzzles and physical challenges and everything. You guys are geniuses for coming to the idea to make this in SC2, and I feel dumb for only just discovering this show. Will dive in right away, and watch Ep4 later today. Thanks for doing this! Gogo

The part we've been loving the most, as content creators, are the folks in chat! We could have less than 100 viewers, and it'd still be entertaining hearing people guess who's going to lose, what's going to happen, as it all comes out live. You lose that with youtube sadly!

Trying to catch up asap so I can watch it live in the future!
OKAY we are officially on a 1 week break/hiatus due to tournaments taking precedence for the contestants involved with SC2 Survivor. Please help us figure out a new Day/Time for us to come back, and please keep your answers honest about trying to watch the show live, thank you!

Posting this in order to link on twitter and such:
For anyone that missed the announcement, there is no survivor this week, due to having to take 1 week off for tournaments. The next Survivor broadcast will be on September 13th (time not yet decided)
I wrote a pretty generic blog about the show and how far we've come in just five weeks time: http://sc2links.com/blog/?p=385 - feel free to check it out and share :D
If people are interested, I'm considering writing behind the scenes analysis of my thoughts as the host of the show, ala the Jeff Probst blogs for regular Survivor. Hit me up on twitter @DOOMeSports if you'd like to see that in the future.
When? Friday September 13th, 12:00PM PDT (Rebroadcast at 5:30PM PDT)
**NOTE:We are trying the new time suggested by the poll, if the new time does not appear more appealing to viewership, we will go back to the old broadcast time of 6PM PDT**
Don't forget to use the hashtag #SC2Survivor to interact with ME & fans of the show in real time on twitter during today's broadcast at 3PM EDT - subsequently, avoid twitter until the 9PM EDT rebroadcast if you don't want to be spoiled :D
With six players left in the game, things are only going to heat up from here - deception, strategy, and opportunity will be the themes that run through tonight's broadcast. Who will end up making a move and who's going home? TUNE IN TO FIND OUT! http://www.twitch.tv/basetradetv
28% away from our 100$ prize pool goal and 4 survivors remain! We have come a long way since the start of this, and it couldn't have been done without the support of the community and our amazing survivors.
Friday is going to be a make or break moment in the game, hope to see you all there at 3PM EDT on http://www.twich.tv/basetradetv for the show!
I'm really enjoying this show There are some really nice twists and turns and I like the balance between the set format of reward and immunity and the huge variety in challenges and rewards otherwise. Just wanted to drop that out here to break the monotony of updates without comments Keep up the good work!
Also, TL has a countdown functionality, like this: Next show in . (And of course, the appropriate code can be seen if you press Quote on my post).
Edit: Also, I just noticed when watching the last episode that you've been spelling CompLexity as ComLpexity in the credits. Seems you've been doing it since episode 1 :p
Thanks iManiac! There is indeed a new episode today at 3PM EDT on http://www.twitch.tv/basetradetv - we'll get it on the TL calendar asap.
Huge stakes in the game tonight - can Puck and Tempo break the alliance of kaitlyn/Brent? Or will the dynamic duo ride a wave of victory to the final 3?
YEAH! I'm so stoked that Temp0 made it out!!! Sorry puck, your laugh is hilarious but.. you were a free agent for so long... I know you can't always depend on people but sometimes you gotta to win.
I love the show! Also.. Rif... I only had 7 right on the SC2 Survivors Jeopardy :'( Only 7... Newb school I go....
I detail episode 7 and give some awesome behind-the-scenes insights - hope you enjoy!
AND I hope you tune in to our second to last episode, TOMORROW at 3PM EDT on http://www.twitch.tv/basetradetv! Can Brent and kaitlyn ride their wave of momentum to victory or will Tempo shock the world and make it to the final 2?
I hope Temp0 remembers that he's got the Mulligan Idol today. Unless Survivor has got a surprise up its sleeve (although I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of surprise, just like all the rest of the show ), I can see no other way Temp0 is going to survive today unless he wins the immunity challenge.
The final episode is coming up this Friday (the 11th) and you will get to find out who wins the prized title of, "Ultimate Starcraft 2 Survivor". There is a very important community vote, that will be the tie-breaker in the event of a tie between the jury. Money talks, as whoever's tip jar has the most $ will receive the community vote http://mapcontrol.co/donate.php (Both players receive 100% of their tips, as it is not added towards the prize pool) You have up until the final episode to donate and help these two win the prize pool, as we will be tallying the votes live.
The final episode will have our finalists on doing some Live Q&A with a mixture of pre-recorded video sessions. Do make sure to come check it out, as at the moment of writing this the prize pool is at 865$ !
Less than 6 hours away!! The Ultimate Starcraft 2 Survivor will be decided today!! Hey, I'm a poet and I didn't even realize that I was indeed a poet! If you missed last week's episode, check out my blog recapping our final immunity and reward challenges: http://sc2links.com/blog/?p=471
As of RIGHT NOW, kaitlyn has the community vote -- will Brent be able to take the lead and lock it up for himself in the hours to come? Only YOU can decide that ^^
Haha, I'm glad you liked the synopsis I've certainly enjoyed the show, so I thought I could contribute to a synopsis for it! Too bad I won't catch the last episode live, but vods work too. Sad to see it end, though. In the first episode, I never would have guessed at Brent and kaitlyn in the finals, to be honest. More like Suppy and puCK or something like that. Goes to show that the show has had lots of nice quirks and surprises and it's been a real joy to watch. It's not too early to ask for a season 2, is it?
iMAniaC, you are THE MAN! Liquipedia gave you a shoutout on twitter too, fyi:
Season 2? We'd love to! But it's too early to tell whether or not it we'd have enough backing from community/sponsors/players to make it happen. Best thing we can hope for is to continue to have awesome people like you support the show in unique ways and to keep spreading the word that this exists
With that being said, we're really happy with the way everything has turned out so far - BaseTradeTV has grown leaps and bounds since we first aired the show (due in large part to the efforts Rifkin has made), so we're in a good position to continue producing unique Starcraft 2 content. I would have also never guessed that a small group of hardcore supporters would be able to grow the prize pool to a total just shy of $1000, but hey, THAT JUST HAPPENED!
