I'd say ZvZ is his best matchup but his ZvT is amazing too. ZvP, let's not talk about that

Jaedongs zvz is better I am pretty sure . He's got a 30-3 record zvz 90% win rate. his zvt is good though as well ^_^

Let's just call it JvP, the polar opposite of JvZ.

Yeah I would go with this, protoss is his bane,he simply hasnt a clue on how to play against it
I beg to differ ... Taeja's defense is NOT stellar because he rather loses Ghosts to Zealots than build a few Missile Turrets. He gets harrassed by air from the beginning and does not close those possibilities? That is less than good IMO.
He might be able to spot the Observer too which has been sitting at his 3rd for the whole game too ...
EG-TL is going to drop to 8th without a doubt now. There's no way Jaedong is taking down Innovation, and even if he does, the chances of this not going to ace are slim (and Innovation plays again, which is insta-GG)
On July 08 2013 18:16 Qwerty85 wrote: Damn those oracles did too much damage at the start...
Nope ... the total unwillingness of Taeja to build any turrets did that. His opponent had all the scouting and freedom to harrass in the world. If your army is at home defending against such threats it cant be "out there" to pressure the opponent ... and thus relying on your army to deal with pressure is stupid. Why you limit your drop defense to "units I have to control" only is beyond me and that invisible Observer isnt new to the game either.
I think jaedongs strengths match up well with innovations, if he does not roach bane he has a chance to win despite innovation probably being a level above him still. I have never played jaedong on sc2 yet, but he still does not look as strong as he should be..
innovation most likely expected some early attack or overly greedy play off of jaedong predicting 3 cc at 530 540 hellion into 2 ebay.... if jaedong put down the banenest right after his spire would have been a bo win for jaedong, wp eitherway.
On July 08 2013 18:39 Gamegene wrote: honestly i felt like this was more innovation defeating himself with a bad build order than jaedong winning.
This is what happens when he 'plays safe' i guess?
well, I think there is a grey area you can go for and be safe inbetween getting a third CC and double ebays at 7mins and flying out a third CC at 15mins.

any build that isn't 3cc is bad in tvz :<
besides hellbatdrops anyways.
I think there are useful timings (blue flame hellions, hellbat/marauder...) of 2CCs where you can start a third at 10-11 mins. MMM timing is not one of them.

Innovation should had just defended and get a third after he cancelled both of JD's upgrades. Instead he threw away a lot of units, and more importantly, a ton of medivacs trying to kill JD's third.
I'ma a flash fanboy but... I feel this is the Tyrant's time to shine. he'll keep improving his weaker matchups (ZvP) which he's been really understanding just made big mistakes at bad times... enventually hell figure it out. Tyrant will return.
hmm even with all that micro, HerO wasn't able to take that. I figured he had it once he kept his 3 immortals alive with the prism and was about even on supply but the VR switch must've been his undoing. Why was he behind or lost that? anyone? I missed most of the game lol

Hero went 1 gate expand into gate robo. Mini went 3 gate and killed Hero's nexus while expanding. Hero tried warp prism immortal drop, but mini's observer saw it and Hero could not drop. Mini teched to colossus while Hero stayed on immortals. Hero attacked with his immortal gateway army while warping in with the warp prism but the attack failed. Mini counter pushed with his colossi while Hero threw down double stargate. Too late, Hero died before he got enough void rays.

I think the Void Rays were a bit too late. Don't forget HerO wasn't using minerals/gas invested in 2 stargates + 2 void Rays the first part of that battle. And when the Void Rays came out the immortals didn't kill enough stalkers before so the Void Rays died while killing only 1 Collosus. So the Stargate transition was complete fail.
On July 08 2013 20:09 SChlafmann wrote: Hero should have kept alive those voidrays instead of throwing them away no? Then when reaching 4 voids it would have been a easy hold.
He didn't have enough time. He was going to die if he kept his void rays back.
After a long journey, they are finally back to where they rightfully belong. What a glorious night. :D
Have I missed something, whats with all the hate for EG-TL ? I am sure they will improve next season of that I have no doubt.
Personally, I find it rather funny considering the preseason "power rank". You know, the whole #1 and "You have unleashed a monster" thing. Also the fact they are doing worse than Team 8.

Its just the bane of all that is foreign in sc2: marketing and hype. On one side its necessary to get sponsors, viewers and attention, on the other side you lose credibility. I expected like a 6th place preseason, cause they have powerhouses like Taeja and Hero and Puma. From the foreigners i expected a few cheese wins. Kespa players are training monsters, so i am satisfied with the wins EGTL got. All in all we should hope that they will continue, for the sake of high level korean sc2. edit: ofc #BelieveInCoachPARK
Well when i look at EG-TLs line up i see some really good talent. With Hero, Taeja and JD they have the players to win best of ones. I have a feeling that Park will improve the win ratio considerably next season if given the chance
Well, EGTL has strong players at the top. Jaedong, HerO and Taeja can take games and even series off everybody. But they need a solid middle ground that can reliably get kills so HerO or Jaedong can close out matches. Oz, aLive, Snute and Revival are all good but they have the potential to be a lot better than they are right now. And they've been steadily improving which means the practice environment is paying off. People always expect practice to kick in right away but it doesn't. It pays off in the long run which is where I hope EGTL will perform a lot better than they have this season.
innovation lost o.O .. how did JD win ? showed really good zvt? or cheesed ? how ? JD is good in broodwar but innovation is a God in sc2 right now ? o.O

When you're going into the season with Liquid'Sea, you wouldn't be expecting an 8th place finish. Esports fans and their short memories.

It was some beautiful JvT. Innovation thought it was cool to stay on two-base bio-mine aggression. Jaedong defended well without overcommitting on defense (with slow banes ), established his third, could go for mutas and from then on dominated engagements by excellent muta micro, taking out every mine (with an overseer in the flock) before it could go off, while lings pressured the marines. JDs supply advantage escalated quickly and he eventually overcame Innovation, feasting on the cries of "Innovation didn´t play his best".
It was consistent with his showing against Terran in Dreamhack (at MLG it was all Z and P for him), so I´d say, yes, JvT could very well be back.

JD's TvZ has always been good. It's the one matchup in the game, from both sides, that mechanics mostly determine the winner. And it's why it's so beautiful.

so a convincing win it was .. thats wonderful to hear .. hoping to see a flash-JD rivalry in sc2 again :D
ok just finished watching JD vs innovation .. jaedong is getting back to being the hyper aggressive JD like in BW .. where he does not overcommit defense .. scary stuff although if it was midgame macrowar.. innovation would be better i think but as we know jaedong tactics and micro has been making him win .. now JvP is the only thing he needs to fix ..

Not many people would question his ZvT/ZvZ to begin with. It's when he's up against a Toss that he usually fails.

JD is really good at zvz and zvt. It is just his zvp that is horrible. People is thinking JD is bad because he is constantly dropping games vP and forgets how fearsome he is in other match ups, the frustration of his losses vP is what stays in our mind.
Fun Fact about EG-TL, they finish the season 16-26 Their record for the season is 98-135 in map score If all of their 98wins in map score had contributed towards wins They would have a total record of 20wins, still not enough to be in the playoffs.
In other words, when they won, they barely won, and when they lost, they got smashed.
Would've been nice to end the season on a high note, but unfortunately, the entire EG-TL line-up is weak against Protoss so the other teams have really been taking advantage of that.

42 games Win 24 games 4-3 Lose 1 game 2-4 Lose 17 games 0-4
Would give them 98-144, but would rank them over SKT, so in the play-offs.
that jaedong vs innovation game was so weird. 2 base bio all-in vs fast spire off no roaches? what year is it? yeah JD won, but that was a pretty weak build by innovation.
