It is true that Naniwa/Huk group was the easieast one. Relatively easy opponents did help Naniwa for sure. That said, I think Naniwa is the best non-Korean in this tournament anyways, so he would have had the best chance to advance further even if he had been placed in other brackets with tougher opponents. You mean best non-Korean in the world anyways. Naniwa is the only hope for non-Koreans since Stephano's decline and impending retirement and it's not even close. It's strange how there's so much nationalism in sports, but in SC2 people rather support random Koreans instead of our own guys. Well that's easy enough to explain. 1. I'm not Swedish 2. I'm not white. (I'm not Korean either just btw) 3. I don't play Protoss 4. I tend to cheer for GSL players since they are from the tournament I spend the most time watching. Naniwa isn't one of "my" guys. He's more foreign to me as any of the Koreans and a lot of them are much nicer too.
Yeah this pretty much sums up my feelings on it as well. Naniwa just isn't one of the players I cheer for and is more foreign to me than pretty much any other player. Though I'm probably slightly biased since he was extremely rude to me in person once, but I just chalked that up to him being young and socially awkward as hell.
My country doesn't have any super amazing pros that I like. Except for maybe the EG guys and I don't expect any of them to really win anything. So I have to cheer for the Koreans.

Oh I get that, except Naniwa to me isn't a true underdog since he's one of the foreigners expected to actually do well.
Cheering for underdogs to me is cheering for Bubbles, Arium or State. Guys that are just getting their first real shot at MLG and are doing better than expected.
When it comes down to cheering for the actual contenders, I'll take my pick of the players I like best based on a variety of factors including past experience, showmanship, personality, skill and what team they are from.

Hell nobody in the world is a 90% favourite against Jaedong in any matchup. Naniwa edged out a win last time, but always lost in training before. After Jaedong beat Stats 2-0 yesterday, I'd call him the favourite or give him 40/40 chances at least. he always lost in training and you give him almost 50%? also where did you hear that? that sounds interesting. what was said? Naniwa said in an Interview at DH that he never beat JD before that match. They lived together in the EG-TL house and Jaedon went 10-0 or something. cool, was curious about the winrate and sample size

But not all of them. Not idra, not QXC (for some reason I can't get behind him) and I follow the korean scene the most so that's what I root for. Also, most NA players are bad and some of the rest are just BM.
We have Suppy and Scarlett though. Those two are a cut above a lot of the others in the pro scene from NA.

I don't know about Naniwa being the best foreigner in the world, I think Stephano is still the best. He still got second in the European WCS

Sound vs Hyun replays anywhere? And was it good games?

I'm pretty sure JaeKong will end up in the finals again where he'll lose to someone like Polt/Sound/Dear

I didn't look at the brackets since I'm only able to use my cell right now, but one of them is going to take him out I feel

Well he has to play Dear right after Naniwa and win an extended series against him, if he does that he wins it all imo but it seems almost impossible. In the finals it would be either Hyun/Sage/Sound or HerO waiting for him. All beatable if he can beat Dear from being behind 0-2. Especially Hyun should be no problem who is likely to eliminate the biggest threat HerO. JvZ.
tl;dr: If Jaedong wins the extended series against Dear, he will be the champion.

Its a sign of a good tournament when nobody can really predict a winner. My head says Hyun, my heart says Polt but why do i have an itch that Sound will win it somehow

Yeah I really like the simple format with no groups or seeds into later rounds, so many exciting matches and nobody knows who wins.

I don't think Sound can get past Polt, he's just been playing better all weekend long.
Then again it IS Championship Sunday and larger upsets have occurred in the past.

What is this winner and loser round? Will loser round people stand to go to the finals?

hyun vs hero and polt vs jaedong for semi would be so awesome, I've a feeling it's going to happen.

So, apparently, the extended series rule is in effect during the MLG spring championships? I don't see any mention of it on the Liquipedia tournament page.
But, let's say Jaedong beats Naniwa ,his match against Dear will continue from 0-2 as a BO5?

If it's extended series, it would be bo7

So what are we thinking about Jaedong v Naniwa? JvP or will Naniwa crumble?
