Soulkey versus SOS was as bad if not worse than their original RO4 series from the GSL; just a lot of build order wins or huge punts.
Foreigners aren't getting better if they get no time to prepare either. The quality of WCS America games was simply god-awful and the rushed nature of the WCS format is to blame.
I hope Innovation versus SOS is a good series with smart play but I have a feeling it will be one-sided with SOS cheesing the crap out of innovation or Innovation shutting down SOS's cheese and overwhelming him with macro.
It's the formatting man. Western scene has always taken pride in their LAN-style. Plus the foreigners wouldn't get better if they had more time to prepare. It's like I said before you have to increase the frequency of meaningful games and up the quality of always seeing the best guys play hence the World Tour Circuit blueprint.

Major title = WCS Korea or a WCS Grand Slam.
Not even a MLG really counts anymore with the slashed prize pool and open bracket nature.
I remember people said that MVP was the Derek Fisher of Broodwar lol.

Spreading out the games greatly increases the cost of holding the tournament. It's not a big deal for the GSL to spread everything out because they have a dedicated studio and a regular stream of income from broadcasting live matches in primetime.
In this tournament there were foreign fans and broadcasters -- increasing the length of the tournament would mean more hotel or flight time. Also remember that there will be tournaments like this in Europe and the U.S. later this year -- if 2 Koreans are in the finals they'd have to fly back and forth twice if the format were different.

sOs thought it was 7:3 odds huh....pretty much the same odds I would have given :p

As for right now I think that putting flash above INnoVation is pure fanboyism. Flash gets a lot of hype, but outside proleague he hasn't gone the distance yet. Proleague is SUCH a different tournament from individual tournaments that I think his stats there, while impressive, cause people to overestimate his ability. Putting Flash above Innovation is as far-fetched as putting Innovation above Flash. They're on the same level...it's really hard to argue otherwise unless you want to make the argument "The results on WCS KR is what matters and everything else that happened doesnt matter"
Well the original discussion was WoL... ...so Flash and Innovation still don't really have squat. Innovation did look particularly brilliant towards the end, of course, but an overall WoL rating for terrans would definitely be between mostly ESF players.
If we're talking currently, eh I still can't see Flash being lower than Innovation. But of course that's subjective, as are most ratings. Unless they use stats, in which case people hate it for not being subjective =P

I don't think that's true, he just doesn't want to get the surgery because it means he would have to take a really long break from the game and he thinks he might as well retire if he can't compete for 6+ months. its what I've been told. Unless you are Mvp's doctor himself, how do you know so precisely about how bad his wrists are ? Maybe he actually recovered. It's been like 6 months for him in code B, he would have time for the surgery people were talking about. Or maybe the wrists problem is a urban legend and wasn't even that terrible in the first place...

Team leagues and individual leagues require somewhat different skillsets and strenghts, but your argument only holds true if you rank individual league achievements higher than team league achievements. I do agree that Innovation seems to be slightly better than Flash right now, even though I am a huge Flash fanboy.
