Actually, a variety of reasons - biggest reason, lack of time to come up with a prediction of the lineup and animate it properly. I also found it incredibly hard to find suitable photos of players from an appropriate angle for this.
I'm not really happy with the animation as it is but I didn't want to bin it considering how long it took, so I kept it as the banner easter egg kind of thing. The original idea was to have the whole sequence as an animated GIF banner and it would end where it does, but the file got really huge really fast. I even did the battle side-to-side wavy idle effect thing in an earlier render but removed it to reduce the size.

Haha, I did have the idea of updating a spoiling banner during the match but gave that up when I thought of how long it would take to find and make appropriate images of everyone. But this is clearly the future meta of stream watching - you watch the LR stream instead of the actual games. (I actually want to do this now. Not enough time to pull it together for this season though unfortunately.)

Hm, I feel the section headers in the OP look a bit small and not visible enough. I liked the old bigger bold font and centered section headers without cute pic clutter. The banner is nice though, even if the sudden movement confused me for a second.

Yeah, 15 mutas don't help after killing like 20 medivacs right? And the casters were saying that Soo was doing good at holding Flash back. There was even a point where Soo had the supply advantage. They didn't say "soo is winning? what can flash do?" when the supply was already 140 vs 110.

This is accurate I feel. He's never been the best at micro... always needs to have an army or econ advantage. Ghost battles are so micro intensive, it just isn't his thing. He has had some luck with hellbat drops in TvZ, so I don't know why he doesn't harass in TvP in the midgame. It's really strong.

Parting has really good control though. He doesn't just cast storm and hope for the best, instead he pulls back his main army and baits his opponent into storms, he also often flanks with Templars and he only uses the storms when he knows that he'll hit something with it.
Parting's Templar-control makes it almost impossible to dodge his Storms, so you can actually talk about 'great storms' here

No but seriously, after he was up a base he could have easily used drops to keep Parting's economy low. Hell, he could have used the hellbats he switched in to burn probes at the new 3rd or else in his main. Templars would have been too late because PartinG had kept them all in his army in case Flash attacked, like he did. I don't really understand the SCV pulls either. If you want to finish earlier then either bring more or don't bring any at all. The zealots weren't the problem, the Templars were.

The meta exists because it's supposed to be the best set of strategies. Innovative play often relies on suprise and an unappropriate reaction from the opponent, which is less likely to happen with players of Kespa caliber.

Well from my point of view, they play exactly like ESF players, but just better.
Everytime i see a Kespa player doing something different, they copied a build from ESF / EU. I never see them creating new builds.
But maybe its the bo1 format which is the cause... I dont know.

I think part of it is also the format in which we are seeing them. You could say that PL is a sequence of Bo1's and in those it is best just to play the most reliable build for the map that's possible, be it macro or timing, you don't necessarily need to do anything unexpected. In a Bo3 or more it's a completely different thing, you need to deviate from your preferred style occasionally.

fighting spirit still has that cliff where you can jump into the main with blink stalkers and really abuse the mobility, harassing the main and the natural. The defending player has to walk a little bit further because the choke is rather in the back.
Of course Blink is not a free-win against 1-gate expand, it depends on the micro and decision making of both players. But it's still really strong.

It's starting to look like 1 gate expand will become the norm in PvP. The mothershipcore and early expand times out very well to defend against double gas 4 gates.
The thing about this game is that the safe build after the fast expand with msc is to get a robo and observer to protect from dark templars. The semi-counter (semi-risky) to this is very fast blink as we've just seen... made worse by the msc core loss by Parting.

Rain is going to have a preparation advantage over Stats, as he probably only practiced on these last 3 maps which are all ladder. But Wooki is going to have an even bigger preparation advantage as he was designated specifically for Rain.
I don't think KT anticipated losing Flash earlier on, because Stats build seemed like a sniper build meant for Fantasy.

can't agree with that. They have by far the longest downtimes, if you watch Proleague some more they always use the same filler content so it gets repetitive really quick and the in-game observer and casters are not very good.
They have good production but not the best in my opinion.

In GSL the pauses between two games are normally so short that they maybe have the time to discuss the last game and thats it. Maybe there is some downtime between two Matches where something like this could be squeezed in.
It surely would be nice to get some background information or hijinks like in pro league :-)

Correct, especially considering that his attack timing doesn't go away, it just hits later and is less of an all in as he has a natural. The colossus advantage doesn't go away as his colossus tech was ahead.

The Production of ESL yesterday was actually pretty damn amazing.
I like Proleague production, only downside is that they re-use alot of clips over and over again.

Yeah it can be a bit confusing to new people in the scene. They call the last match the ace generally because it's when both teams send out their best players. Generally.

People call the final game in a BO3/5/7 between two individuals an ace match.
An ace match should be the match where you send out your ace players to try and win the series. Which you can't do in all-kill format because often the ace has already been knocked out, and one team's final player is going to be whoever has managed to make it that far.
And ace matches came before GSTL, they were part of proleague, and part of the non-WL proleague format matches. WL has all-kill potential, regular team matches have an Ace match.
Ace match is a horribly misused term to the point where it's meaningless these days.

Thank u sir, this is very clear. I m actually not new to SC2 scene, and now that people mentions it, I must have heard the term in GSTL too.
It's just that I haven't watched too much Proleague in winner format yet (at least I missed all the 4-3 series) and had got used to the ace match in non winner format Proleague.

The usage of the word "ace" to mean someone outstanding or exceptional only began to be used during World War I for fighter pilots who shot down multiple enemy planes. This is the meaning that is used for that one player, chosen at the end of a series of games, who fights to decide the outcome (since he is the best, or someone exceptional).
Before that the word meant something similar to "one", such as a single mark on a die, because it is taken from latin, where it meant "one unit". Based on this definition, using "ace match" to mean the last match with both teams down to one player, is arguably suitable.
