Yeah, for Europe, I'd say that the creation of WCS was a very, very good thing. It really creates something I've always wanted to see done. Not too sure about the other two big scenes yet, but in Europe everything has gone splendidly from my point of view.

There are improvements that need to be made, like upping the player fluctuation and opening more spots for Code B players, but overall I'm very happy with the development.

only thing that i would not like ESL to do is to overdose the "humor" aspect. Showing it to a person that never had any expirience with eSport is quite embarassing from my side and feels quite cheap for the newcomer

They don't overlap in time. Maybe the crowd can watch the CL finals after the semi-finals in the studio with MC etc.

I agree, I won't be able to watch anything except for maybe the Finals, away for the whole Saturday and then CL in the evening and on the following day I'll be once again away for most of Sunday, this literally couldn't be at a worse date for me.

Thanks for that! I guess I should have done some more research before voicing my concerns. I think I should be okay for at least the first TLO - MVP.

yes, I know, I said I won't be there on Sunday, too, nothing to do with CL but with doing sports myself but doesn't change the fact that it couldn't have been on a worse date, especially since the football season here ends at that exact same weekend, so the next weekend or whatever would have been like infinitely better and not robbed me of two days of StarCraft entertainment ^_^

And this sort of thing is the way to get the community bigger! You have to have different events which air over a long period of time and who have completly differend profiles and target audiences. For now many up and coming tournaments tried to copy the Korean/GSL style of broadcast. I hope Blizzard is thinking in this direction with WCS.

Completely agree. I love that WCS EU hasn't tried to copy anyone but instead does its own thing, and the result is a show that is obviously very professionally ran but feels very casual and fun. I think Redeye especially does a brilliant job in hosting and makes the whole thing a very coherent experience, its something many tournaments lack when the only people speaking during the whole thing are the casters behind their desk.

I almost feel bad for MLG because even if they put on a great show, it will most likely pale in comparison to this.

Hmm, thinking a bit further about the possibility Redeye brought up:

Stephano qualifies for the finals after retiring for his studies. Goes to this one last event. Gets a bit lucky into the grand finals. Makes an amazing comeback against the overwhelming favorite to win it all. Never plays again. Totally pulling a Creolophus.

this would be a sick movie

Holy shit. I just googled Creolophus, I don't know much about WC3, but I know enough to know that this unholy feat is fricken incredable.

Unless it's this one, which is also damn impressive , though a less recognizable bracket for me.

Man... Wish I was around during the WC3 days. Seems like one hell of a scene.
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

you know, if you want to go to public viewing somewhere, to a bar or a beer garden it will not suffice to leave the house at 8. Its gonna be so packed, i live in munich and plan to leave for a beer garden in the afternoon. Otherwise every place is gonna be occupied

btw is there a challenger league schedule anywhere?
