Apparently, he said so on Twitter. That explains a lot. Why not have a dedicated observer...? How? Dedicated observing for online tournaments is impossible. You need someone physically there at the streaming location. I understand people are not that happy with the observing, I get it, but it's impossible to resolve that problem. There's only so much you can do when you have to focus on casting, observing and doing production all at once. You did great for how much you are doing! It is expected for somethings to be less than perfect when doing everything at once (well for those of us who think ![]() Also, i'll keep making these if you would like...and if you want anything added/taken out, let me know. The mediocre: The observing was rough at times, especially compared to a very professional cast like the GSL. I understand there are technical limitations that prevent this from being improved upon, so I don't feel it's quite fair to harp on it. The bad: I think the main problem was really with some of the players being somewhat new to the tournament scene. My biggest problem - and I understand, it is hard to fault them on it, but it was very frustrating - there was probably 1+ hrs of broadcast time taken by players pushing unwinnable scenarios rather than simply GGing. This is unfortunate because it causes casters to be put in the awkward position of either proclaiming games "over" (and then having to wait for 10 minutes for them to be really over) or acting as if everything is good and well with 75+ supply differences. Again, I don't really know what can be done about this, but it was a noticeable frustration as a viewer. I don't want to see a rash of too-fast GGs, but tapping out when defeated is a good thing for everyone.

Hyperbole is fun but gold level mistakes.. come on. I assure you Code S Koreans don't get supply blocked 8 minutes into a game when the game was absolutely stale.. If it were 38 minutes in I can understand because people get tunnel vision but absolutely no excuse for that. I assure you they do, obviously less than the average foreigner, but shit happens, everyone makes mistakes, even "gasp" koreans Totalbiscuit your obsing was fine, I watched the games inbetween my series. Quite good since you are casting/obsing at the same time. People will complain to complain.

I think if I practice more this week on some complex replays and don't have the stress of dealing with multiple technical issues in Group B then it should improve.

We believe it was around 40k if you add the English and foreign language streams together. We're happy with that number but we'd like to see it go to 50k. I think as we get into the RO8 onwards, it will, plus the tech problems in the first hour caused many people to give up.

Only thing that's a bit sad is the broadcast times, staying up until 2-3AM (CEST) on a Sunday-to-Monday night isn't really feasible if you have school/work. Don't know if there's anything that can be done about it though without screwing over the west coast americans. Overall I would say it was a successfull start to the tournament with some hiccups ![]()

Was great to watch and I was surprised when I looked at the clock and it was after 4pm est at one point. I will be watching the others, the technical issues will get ironed out as they go along and I think after this complete tourney TB will have a great platform to do it again. Make Husky give you the $50 in something other than taco bell.

Quite good since you are casting/obsing at the same time. People will complain to complain. I would agree that even Code-S level players do make mistakes, but thats because you cannot say that even the best player in the world would not make a mistake ever. Usually a Code-S player would not get a supplyblock early on, when not being pressured, thats what he was talking about. Other than that, I think pointing out how big of a mistake it is, regardless of level, is justified. If MVP gets supply blocked @ WCS 6 minutes into the game, hell I will point that out as a caster, because its rare and its a mistake. Its not bashing

People should be harping on players for having a way higher cap than current supply. I mean, that's just intentionally being bad.

I would chalk that up to nerves, but I watch his stream a lot and he routinely gets supply blocked; I figured it was due to talking while playing. No idea what to think now. It's a lot easier to get supply blocked in this game than in BW (unless you play Terran). In BW, at least, it really was inexcusable and I doubt any good pros were getting supply blocked. I was watching Grubby the other day and he was at something like 90psi out of 180. He had never even gone above 90 supply. If you're getting supply blocked, at least it shows you weren't taking the bronze league approach to macro'ing. Given the alternative that I've seen... I think it's a step up to see foreign pros getting supply blocked. People should be harping on players for having a way higher cap than current supply. I mean, that's just intentionally being bad. Too much supply free (when never in that area / not needed) is as bad as getting supply blocked. But one has to realize that its never a good thing to be supply blocked. Even if you take the approach that he is at least making a lot of stuff, he prevents himself from making more stuff. Same with building too much overlords/pylons/depots. You prevent yourself from spending the minerals on something actually useful. When being Protoss, I can understand that you build warpin pylons over the map that doesn't or shouldn't neccessary be supply pylons, but thats about it.
