They tried to treat the regions equally but they are manifestly not equal. So their prizes shouldn't be equal either. Admitting that is the first step to fixing this mess, but I bet we'll have to wait at least a year!

A lot of people seem to want this. Seems ridiculous to me as well. Well if you have 15 koreans in the top 16, it will be like Code B with same prize pool as GSL Code S. Right, it is silly either way but that is a result of the way Blizzard designed WCS. The solution to the problem isn't to make it even dumber by making it a NA-only arena with a 100k prize pool. Why not? It makes sense if it's the best of one region. It makes no sense if it's the lower tier of another region. Because you don't deserve the same prize money as the champion of Korea for being the champion of NA. Maybe not, but the structure of it makes sense. It makes far less sense, and it's also less fair, for the champion of the tier 2 Koreans to get the same as the champion of the tier 1 Koreans Right on the money. It makes sense to let Azarenka win the same amount of money as Djokovic on Australian open. But it will not make sense for No.50 male player to win the same amount of money on some ATP250 tournament as Djokovic on Australian open.

It should be residency requirement to compete in a region (unless you're one of the CN/Australian players who are fucked) with prize pools that fit the skill level of each region Korea should get X amount, NA should get 40% of that and EU should get 50-60% of that. Luckily there will be a defacto residency requirement in the coming seasons as the games move entirely offline. At least Koreans will have to stay in their foreign team house for a few weeks as it happens which would mean they can't do proleague or gstl. They will handle it in GSTL the same way they always handle in GSTL when players are missing and that's let other players take there spot. I cant think of any specific examples for proleague offhand but im sure the KeSPA teams would handle it the same as well.
