Sigh, I really dislike the SKT T1 lineup nowadays, as you guys have already mentioned... There is too many Protoss players. Oh well gogo Fantasy atleast

Can you blame them? They want to win, and their protoss line-up is very strong right now.
Parting < Alive Brown < Taeja soO < Jaedong Fantasy > Oz Rain < HerO
EGTL wins 4-1. This is more of a "if everything goes well" kind of prediction.
Parting's PvT is WAY less solid than it used to be. Taeja is Taeja. Jaedong vs soO could go either way but I have faith in Jaedong. Oz' weakest matchup has been PvT FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME IN SC2 but he's damn good so this could go either way too. And then of course, HerO to finally beat Rain and take all the glory.

Don't you remember that one time Choya decided to play himself instead of Oz because it would've been PvT? I mean after that he enter his dark age of PvP but generally it was PvT iirc.

PartinG > aLive Brown < TaeJa soO < Jaedong FanTaSy > Oz Rain > HerO ParalyzE > JYP
SK 4 - 2 EGTL
I would love to see EGTL take this one with Oz and Hero clutching out their games, but realistically, I don't think it's gonna' happen.
Edit: Does anyone know if Taeja is back in form? He lost his game against ForGG earlier today in the Acer team cup, so I don't know if he's back up to par with where he used to be. Hopefully he is

Yay taeja is back. Looking forward to this game! The big game is Hero vs Rain imo, Hero has been doing well in PvP but it's going to be hard.
parting > alive brown < taeja soo < JD fantasy > oz rain < hero paralyze > JYP
ace: fantasy > Hero. (Hero will be picked to counter Rain, but since Rain lost fantasy will be picked.)

This reminds me of Hwaseung Oz. Those times when I really wanted Oz to win but couldn't handle it because I knew they were going to lose. Instead, I found solace when, at least, Jaedong won. Please win, Jaedong.

Prediction PartinG > aLive Brown < TaeJa soO < Jaedong FanTaSy > Oz Rain > HerO ParalyzE < JYP Rain > HerO
SK Telecom T1 4 - 3 Evil Geniuses - Team Liquid
The best case scenario for me would be PartinG beating aLive, Jaedong beating soO, ParalyzE beating JYP, and a victory for SKT. This looks like a good opportunity for me to regain some fantasy points!
Skt1's lineup is too damn strong. Rain, parting, soo, fantasy are all better than EG-TL's ace player, Taeja who's not even in a stable state. Plus this is being played at the yongsan stadium right?

"Every race will have to play at least one set" comes from that article.
I see. I wonder when they started this rule, because it definitely has happened before.
Maybe you are thinking about the special tournament. For regular Proleague fornat, I always remembered the 1 of each race being true (in sc2 at least).
Ahh no Bisu . Is it possible for him to play in the Ace match (if there will be?) I'm not that familiar of SPL rules, or only the players who already played for this match?

He's allowed to play Ace if they want him to, but I doubt they'll pick him over Rain / FanTaSy / PartinG

I wouldn't say with certainty that soO is better than TaeJa, and frankly Fantasy has yet to prove that as well. I speak as someone with Fantasy as FPL captain: he's doing much worse than he should be, and he is not really stable.

My FPL team is called "SKT-T1-EG-TL" I'll be rooting for some strange combination of:
PartinG > aLive Brown < TaeJa soO < Jaedong FanTaSy < Oz Rain > HerO (I'm sorry, HerO! Rain's on my FPL... ) ParalyzE < JYP
EG-TL wins 4-2
Or if "we" have to lose, then I hope Fantasy wins instead (both he and Oz are on my FPL) and Rain, Parting, Fantasy, or soO take it in the Ace match. EG-TL is my FPL choice, so a 4-3 loss is much better than a 4-0 loss.

there's no way soo is better than taeja O_O
Fantasy should be better than Taeja, but he's not, no way, right now.
With EG-TL literally anything can happen, but I feel even if they don't choke and collapse (and that is a BIG if), and bring their A-game, they will still be very challenged to beat SKT1. The best case scenario for them is probably getting to an ace match, but then who on EG-TL can beat Rain or Parting? All their best players lack a strong vP IMO.
Now that I've said that, EG-TL are probably going to make me look stupid by winning 4-1 or something.
The moment the stream hits over 1.5k viewers the lag starts on 1080p... the first 5 min was perfect and now it looks like it's gonna be lagging as always

The first one. They pick blindly based upon map and have to play at least one of each race.

I thought the only televised match she won, the other guy immediatley retired or something.
aLive showed great ghost usage, meh multitasking and being put in such a shitty position to begin with is enough to make you unfocused anyway. Valiant effort, but PartinG is no slouch.

True, but he had killed aLive's fourth which had pretty much sealed the game because it allowed him to take a fifth. It was probably better for him to sacrifice his fourth because if he lost his army stupidly, he would have probably just died.
Regarding 버틸수가없다 ("We cannot hold" in English) cheerful and SNM's speech impediment.... Was it so hard to say "what do zealots say when they get attacked?"
Brown just messed up so hard, Taeja was so timid giving him so much time. He kept trying to go back into colossus even when Taeja kept making vikings. Should have more templar and immortals instead...

Don't worry. Taeja is there. However, don't worry so much about Jaedong's ZvP. This isn't the first time it was his worst matchup. Do a little research if you want to know just how epic this game was and what it meant to zvp: + Show Spoiler +
No clue why they'd send a toss on this map. Very poor choice by EG-TL. Sad for Oz I feel he could capitalize if he didn't play this map every time :/ Maybe too much pressure for him T_T Hope to see him do well soon~~

Yeah I must be, I'm still asking the question though.
No one can't type anything during the game except for 'gg'.
I always assumed that due to the specific way they need to ask for pause but never really knew, thanks for confirming. You were a lot more helpful than Mr. December '12, thank you.
They changed they penalty for typing anything but GG from a DQ to a Warning a few seasons ago, so fantasy will get a warning. I don't remember 100% but if your team gets 2 warnings I think you get a -1 in your team map score...
Edit: According to Korean casters, apparently no warning since it was an accident while trying to do a "ceremony" (/dance) for winning the game.

Actually, the real reason why they implemented that rule was because of the matchfixing scandal years ago.

If Rain scouted a stargate transition, he would just warp some stalkers and a-move for the kill. I agree with Hero's decision to turtle and harass with immortal drops, when playing from behind. Not that it would matter against Rain, he is the god of late game PvP and would deflect anything from that position.

If it's not a zvp it's not a bad decision, if it's zvp though yeah that won't work and it will probably be a toss so I highly doubt they would send jaedong for ace if it gets there.

That would be the dumbest decision ever, unless JD randomly became a ZvP god. They have been sending out JD for almost every ace, right? Time to mix it up!

Well, assuming JYP can bring it to ace.
If it goes to ace, it will be Taeja. They can't send Jaedong against a potential Protoss, or Hero against a potential Rain. It has to be Taeja, and coach Boxer will likely go for Parting.

ace will probably be rain vs taeja
It better be, and with a win for TaeJa. My FPL must prosper!
TaeJa will almost 100% be the ace if JYP wins! However, BoxeR could ninja and send out himself to play. Considering his 100% win rate in every matchup in HoTS so far.
JYP with a clean PvP.. nice strategy and transitions, lucked out a bit with the missed scout by Paralyze, but then again, he must have suspected a proxy-something, so he should have been more thorough.

Considering Hero is an emotional player and he already lost a game I would defiantly not have sent him out. If anything goes wrong early on it might put Hero on tilt.
I think JYP would be a better choice if Park wants to give an underdog a chance to shine. JYP looking loose and relaxed, ready to play. Hero is looking stressed out and demoralized. My armchair psychology suggests this will end in a loss for EGTL.
Just think of the morale boost if hero pulls out a W.
I get the sense Parch considers JD his ace but JD is horrible vs protoss and this is a team loaded with ace protosses so he must have planned a snipe for protoss. Still, hero is like 1-9 at this studio and 0-8 vs rain...lol
Decent decision from Park here. Jaedong's ZvP would be brutal versus Rain and Rain has shown his TvP is insane by beating players like Flash and Reality + Show Spoiler +
Although he did drop to GuMiHo and INoVation in GSL
. HerO most likely will come out with a snipe build

Why would you send out HerO.
When Rain is now the Ace.
Because Rain has arguably the best PvT in the world and almost beat Innovation a couple of days ago in his Code S group? (Yes, he did lose to Innovation, but... anyways...)
I dunno if Taeja or HerO would be the better pick, but I think both are decent picks.

Yeah, 1-9 in Yongsan(sp?) and 0-8 vs Rain. But let me ask you this: what are the odds that HerO would go 0-9 against Rain? Hmmmm? Zero and NINE against Rain? SOOO unlikely.
Therefore, it's almost guaranteed that HerO will win this match. /faillogic

They do have a chance, since this is only round 4 of 6 in proleague, but they will have to play very well. They currently have 16 losses, which is at least three more than the other contending teams. Their +/- differential is also abysmal, so they cannot rely on that.

I have a question for people like you. Who in the blue hell would you send out when you're almost certain it's going to be Parting/Rain when all the marbles are on the line? To me it's not hard decision. Even though HerO has lost a number of games. He's still your best PvP player on that roster.
Let's look at some other numbers shall we. So far, up to this point we've seen 36 ace matches in pro league. That's a ridiculously high amount. Back in Brood War, people would criticize who got sent out all the time and this really is no different. I'm sure if HerO would have lost you guys would be misdirecting your anger like before. When in reality. It was just the right choice when it comes down to PvP. Eg-TLs record could have gone anyway prior to now. It's just an unfortunate set of circumstances. The nail in the coffin was Round 3 when this team was getting dominated, but before that they managed to make it to the ace match seven times by the end of R3, which is plenty considering at that time there were 29 ace matches. Look at R4 alone. Seven matches have already gone to Ace. That's INSANE.

I'm not sure if they can make the playoffs in the end, but I do think EG-TL has done quite well in this their first season of Proleague. I dont think coach Park think they can get to the playoffs. Sending out Hero was a dumb decision. You dont send out a player that is known for being really nervous, has a losing record against his opponent and just lost his match unless you are trying to build confidence. I respect Park for not caring what everybody else thinks because if Hero would have lost that game Park would have looked really stupid.

Sending out people based on a gut feeling is bad coaching. IM has lost a lot of matches because the coach sent out people because they wanted to play.

I don't think it was gut feeling. I agree it was a HUGE gamble by coach Park. Yet Hero needed this confidence boost more than Taeja, who was the only other viable ace here. When you're this far behind in a league, you're going to have to take gambles. Again, I think you're right about Hero not really being an ace player, but he has a great PvP. Rain was most likely the ace here, and winning against him after such a long losing streak (to rain and at the studio) is so positive for the EGTL team, more than the win itself. It boosts Hero's moral and motivates the team. It could of looked stupid, but now he looks like a fricken genious. It was well worth the risk.

Who said anything about gut feeling? HerO may very well have the strongest vP on the entire team, and can beat (as shown) even Rain when he's on his game. There are a million possible reasons for sending HerO out, and as much as I like to joke about SKT (and Park is still ex-SKT), I have a hard time believing that Coach Park would send out people simply because they've said they want to play. This is the guy who got SKT a billion Proleague championships - very few people know their way around Proleague better than him. Could picking HerO have backfired? Sure, and it would have made him look silly. But did he send out HerO just hoping that he'd get lucky? Very doubtful.

Sending out Hero is a good choice there, he already proved he has good PvP and is reliable in an Ace match vs CJ. In the first game against Rain, Hero had the upper hand initially but started his Robo too late. I don't think anyone is going to think Coach Park looks stupid for sending out his strongest protoss player. It's guaranteed SKT was going to send out a protoss, Jaedong hasn't had the best ZvP so far, so the only other option was Taeja IMO. As I said earlier Hero recently won a PvP ace match vs CJ so it makes perfect sense to me for him to send him out there again.

Thats what I said, in order to reach the playoffs (or do better next season) he needs to build up Heros confidence but lets look at the facts. Coach Park didnt prepare anything for the ace match, Hero has a losing record against Rain, Hero just lost his match and Hero is known for his nerves. Without knowing the outcome would you seriously send out Hero to win this match with these facts in mind?

Who else would you send if you know skt for sure selected Rain as their ace ? JD not good at zvp and taeja still has wrist problem.

It's PvP and if a couple things had gone differently, the first game would have gone to HerO. HerO may have even expressed confidence to Coach Park, knowing that he could very well have won the first game.

to win the match, i'll probably choose taeja over hero. to build hero's confidence and give him ace match experience, yes i will send hero. even if they lost, coach park would've taken a step towards this objective already. what is losing one match vs bolstering your team's strength with a confident hero, who is one of the most skilled players in your team? how does this make coach park look stupid?
If I recall correctly, coach Park said in a recent interview that he was using this period to get to know the players better, their strenghts and weaknesess and how they dealt with pressure, and that he did not expect the team to start winning so soon. So, in other words, he is still trying to figure out what works and what doesn't, rather that try to blindly shoot for the win.
That would explain Hero being sent as the ace, as well as why the team has been scoring a lot of 4-3's revently. Expect a bit more of experimentation from him before the team starts to behave more consistently.

I think you're leaving out the fact that Hero has the most wins this season for EG-TL, he just won an ace match in the same matchup vs CJ and Coach Park really doesn't many other options. Taeja is 1-2 in ace matches and Jaedong isn't as confident vs P yet. Sending out the player who has won the most games for you, in his best matchup doesn't seem like that crazy of a decision. Yes Hero has had nerve issues but he's also proved he's been able to overcome them and preform in Ace matches. You also have to consider the map Akilon Wastes, the fact that Protoss are 3-0 in PvT on that map so far, and the fact that Rain has excellent PvT. Considering all of the options Coach Park had, Hero is far from a poor choice.

Go check out the reddit thread. Hero didnt think he would be sent out and he wasnt confident. PvP is pretty random but Rain engages so well that he is just good at it and besides that JYPs PvP record is better than Heros.
Taeja with wrist problems is still a monster and JYP just won so I would have sent out one of those two.
the rationale for choosing hero is probably a combination of everything said in the last 3 posts before this one, which doesn't make choosing hero for the ace match a stupid decision at all.

What if HerO has a 90% PvP winrate in practice that you just don't know about because you don't actually know anything about their practice. And from what I've seen on stream, his PvP is really really good atm.

Sure, that might be the case. Im just going by what we know and what numbers are out there and based on stats, Hero wasnt the best pick but not the worst either. In the end the coach knows best but that didnt stop people from talking shit about the EGTL coach when he sent out JYP as the ace or when the IM coach sent out a bunch of B-teamers in GSTL (they might have been practice bonjwas who knows).

Every team also sends its weaker players out over stronger ones in order to give them a chance to grow. Rain was trashed for having a loss streak in his early days precisely because he was sent out so often. In retrospect, was that really a bad idea?

Rain was most likely the ace here, and winning against him after such a long losing streak (to rain and at the studio) is so positive for the EGTL team, more than the win itself. It boosts Hero's moral and motivates the team. It could of looked stupid, but now he looks like a fricken genious. It was well worth the risk.
Thats what I said, in order to reach the playoffs (or do better next season) he needs to build up Heros confidence but lets look at the facts. Coach Park didnt prepare anything for the ace match, Hero has a losing record against Rain, Hero just lost his match and Hero is known for his nerves. Without knowing the outcome would you seriously send out Hero to win this match with these facts in mind?
to win the match, i'll probably choose taeja over hero. to build hero's confidence and give him ace match experience, yes i will send hero. even if they lost, coach park would've taken a step towards this objective already. what is losing one match vs bolstering your team's strength with a confident hero, who is one of the most skilled players in your team? how does this make coach park look stupid?
Heros confidence probably grew because he won but what if he had lost? I doubt JYP felt good after he was sent out in the ace match and people wrote mean shit about him. It would make coach Park look stupid because of the reasons I listed. Did you even read what I said?
you grow confidence in your player by putting him out there, win or lose. even if he loses, he still gets to experience that pressure and hence, he'll be able to learn how to deal with it. how do you propose coach park build hero's confidence if he doesn't play him for a critical match?
You havent even read what I said. I believe that Coach Park sent him out so Hero could build up confidence and do better next round/season. I dont think it was good decision to send him out to win that match since nothing was in Heros favour.
In the end the coach knows best but that didnt stop people from talking shit about the EGTL coach when he sent out JYP as the ace or when the IM coach sent out a bunch of B-teamers i n GSTL (they might have been practice bonjwas who knows).
Hero was the right choice because Hero won. Enough said. In sports, whatever gets the W is all that matters. I think all this speculation and what ifs can be applied to any sport. And it is just as trivial and senseless to do so in those sports as you guys are doing right now with StarCraft!
So, can we please remember this the next time we're tempted to say Hero isn't that good? He could be more stable, sure, but at his best he can beat anyone.

You dont send out a player that is known for being really nervous, has a losing record against his opponent and just lost his match unless you are trying to build confidence. I respect Park for not caring what everybody else thinks because if Hero would have lost that game Park would have looked really stupid.
Then maybe coach Park knows more than you.
Sending out people based on a gut feeling is bad coaching. IM has lost a lot of matches because the coach sent out people because they wanted to play.
