The cup will be limited to 1024 players. See more details in our lastest announcement here: http://www.esl.eu/eu/sc2/wcs/news/219165/

Qualifier #2 and #3 seem to be capped at 256 players, any chance of making these 512 at least?

http://www.esl.eu/eu/sc2/wcs/news/219165/

Probably not, unfortunately. We will pre-seed some of the top players and the remaining slots will be free-for-all. Otherwise the cup would take too long or we would have to split it over two days. The latter is what we are planning to do with the final cup on Wednesday (thus no cap on maximum signups there).

Would be good if the remaining spots were only open to masters and GM players then.

Okay, finale/duckdeok and Tails both checked in. Still can't really see them winning on EU though, that only works if you're Hyun. Or Revival.

And it looks like Sasquatch is really trying to qualify on EU, seems strange to lock yourself to EU for the whole year as a decent NA pro, not sure whether that will pay off.

Yeah you're probably right especially if they aren't used to it. EU qualifiers are so much more interesting than the NA cause a bunch of different people could get out of these :D

Good luck to all competitors and may the best man win!

I'm wondering what the expected endtime is, my fuzzymath says this tournament won't be done before 3 AM.

That depends heavily on how far players like Goody and Hasuobs go (are there any other players out there well known for their turtly style?).

Kaup. Oh god, the only games I've ever seen of Kaup have all been split map ones. Fuzer can turtle, too. Nightend likes to play safe, etc. Pretty sure there are a lot of players who can produce overly long games.

And Hasu was invited already for whatever reason, so you won't have to worry about him.

256 is fine, honestly. It is enough to field all non-invited EU grandmasters and high masters who are eligible for it (especially since there probably are some NA / KOR players on top of the ladder on EU).

And these qualifiers are only for the 8 remaining spots in Code S, where - in comparison to the spots in Code A - I see less need to give worse players a chance.

edit: worse players meaning players where I do have a chance to win one out of a hundred games. :D

Prominent signups for Q1 so far.

And a lot of those Bo1 will be VERY short due to huge skill differences of signed up players.
