Happy that only one korean got trough. If anything the qualifier showed that even tournaments without many big names (or many koreans) can pull a good amount of viewers compared to the "premium" product GSL.
Would not be surprised if the WCS EU has way more viewers than the NA or KR one.

what is the current average viewercount of GSL (TV in Korea + Korean GomTV Stream + English Gom TV Stream + Twitch combined) ?

No one knows the gom viewers or Korean ones but on twitch alone it peaked around 29k viewers for yesterday's group.

Hmm seems really lacking indeed. Still i dont think wcs europe will be the biggest viewerwise. The league will be basically three man duking it out (mvp, mma, stephano) with a few surprises here and there (naniwa, forgg, grubby, nercio, vortix)

this isn't WoL

So? You expect top performers to be bad suddenly and people that werent good to be champions all of a sudden? Hots is an introduction of new rules but not a drastic shift like wc3, sc1 to sc2

I don't think Stephano will be that dominant, not sure abot Mvp and MMA. I also think LucifroN will play a much much more prominent role in Europe and you didn't even list MaNa, whereas I don't expect too much from Grubby.

It's a new game, with a new balance, a new chance for developing talents (Bunny is looking very strong), it's not as drastic of a shift as sc1 to sc2 but it does change some things, rewards the preferred playstyle of player x more than the one of player y and gives the players more things to work with. Not all the WoL greats will be awesome at adapting to a new game and not all the new HotS talent will make it in the long run. Especially since all the invites aren't based on HotS results but on WoL results, they don't say anything about how well the relevant pros have played after the switch.

We can't really predict how it'll go, but I don't think it'll stay as similar to the WoL results as you think it will.

Giving tpz each 2 new units or more, means it is a totally different game... old heros will fade away and new ones will arise..

I'm sure most people still watch on gom I think 30k is pretty dang good for a first round group that airs at 2am PST and 5am EST. Isn't it pretty bad for most European countries as well?

30k for that time is really good (especially since we have no idea how many more are watching with Gom/TV etc)

I am looking forward to seeing the NA/EU numbers, I think with good production/casters we will get some really good numbers for some of these groups. Imagine MMA/Stephano somehow in the same group and its on at a more friendly time slot.

I really hope Blizzard give some invites to the challenger league to the likes of Welmu and Pandatank Especially given how invite-heavy WCS EU has been thus far

Saddest thing is that XiGua didn't make it. He played all Qualifiers and got very far each time. Normally he deserved the spot when you consider his effort playing eu qualifiers and his ping.. Would be also good for boosting chinese sc2 scene..

Haha talking about Xigua, I read that he was playing with about 1 second delay lol. Quite sick

Also, random note, apparently because of his performance, there's a European American team/teams trying to poach him haha. I wonder how that'll turn out.

Anyway, there're like 7 Chinese players playing in the NA qualifiers, so more chances for the Chinese to make it through

Who else is playing besides Macsed? I'm guessing people like Jim, Loner, etc?

Good point about Loner though. Weird that he isn't in the list 0.o
