I just think there are serious problems with the code b qualifier system. Although the great majority of people who advance can compete in code a far too often you have lesser players beating better players. When gsl champion quality players have an issue getting through the qualifiers you know there is a problem. I'm not even sure what the problem is, perhaps the fact they dont give people time to know who they are facing, map pool...I dont know but it is something.

It's an incredibly straightforward system. Tournament style, best player on the day wins. There are no excuses for these "better" players losing; it is their fault, not the system's.

The gsl in code a and code s have extensive systems to allow the better player to win. Win once in code a and you are in the gsl next season no matter what. You know your opponents ahead of time, a shot in the up and downs if they lose. Code s has groups with multiple best of 3s, top 8 stay in code s, and so on. Code b the brackets are made on the spot, no prepare time for specific opponents, simple best of 3 format is far weakest at producing the best players consistently than all the rest of the gsl.
