IPL is happy to announce that we will be holding the Final of IPTL 2013 Season 1 between LG-IM and MVP on Thursday, Mar 28 11:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00). Due to the cancellation of IPL6, the finals will be played in Heart of the Swarm. We apologize for our inability to bring these great teams together to compete in a live event. Kevin Knocke, Andrew "Kibbelz" Dunne and Tim "Robin" Frazier will tri-cast the match. Check below for additional details and congratulations to all the IPTL teams for their placements this season.
Playoff Schedule: IPTL Season 1 Grand Final. MVP v LG-IM: March 28
When: Thursday, Mar 28 11:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also rebroadcast repeatedly afterwards!)

Thursday's games will be commentated by Kevin Knocke and Andrew "Kibbelz" Dunne and Tim "Robin" Frazier.!
Horray, IPTL is finishing! IM is probably going to take this from the sheer quality and quantity of their players, but MVP still has absolute beasts in their line-up, so expect this to be fairly close.
Am I the only person who read this thread title on the sidebar and saw it as "LGIMMVP - Grand" and thought we were seeing some sort of MVP showmatch lol?
IM should win. Had this been WoL, I'd say MVP because of their zerg line up (yes i know IM won 5-4 but none of the "big guns" played in that) but unfortunately for them its HotS.
IM 5-4 (MVP terrans very underrated and Monster should do well)

Sniper kinda lost his buzzkill ladykiller underdog aura when he won GSL, so I guess that horrible season was worth something after all

Dream beat rain, I believe dreamertt was chilling in China with lure at the time.
So Dream just dismantled a very good Protoss by shutting down his aggression, and so they send another Protoss also known for his aggression against him? Balls of steel.
first got cocky, truth is dream always beats first in 1 game but then loses the series if it was a best of 3 or 5. Too bad it was only 1 game this time.

Yeah the best AMD advert ever showed some fun SC2 clips between the amd ads.
MC adapts to HotS so well, really utilizing phoenixes well to negate the threat of speed medivacs. Dream has never been able to even consider them this game.
MC's control never fails to disappoint. He was really patient drawing the Terran army all the way from the middle of the map and than flank with storms. Simple move, but supercool to watch when done properly.
Shine is a risk, because he can play good at times, but his ZvP is fairly abysmal. Last time they played, MC smashed Shine badly. I think Sniper or DRG would be the better bet for ZvP.
Not a wise decision to do a drop into a toss base lategame with almost dead bio. Because drops are so dangerous every toss will have atleast 1 HT there. But really cool that the MsC gives enough backup so MC can safely go for Phoenix versus Terran, love this play.
I love MC getting ready for his next push, making the army bigger and better, instead of heading directly into the natural. Though, I do think he'd have won even if he did.
so crisp and clean... foreigners are doing alright - but this is just completely on another level when it comes to execution and most of the time decision making.
i thought shine might try to get swarm hosts and was like "thats a good idea!" then he cancel the infestation pit for no reasons and got all of his roaches killed he was dead anyway, but stilll
i dont agree with sending out another terran. MC has a really good grasp on this matchup, while his zvp has looked pretty average. even that game against shine was just a 2011 allin with a mothership core.

I'm really going to miss IPTL, it was the only place outside of GSTL where we can watch high level team leagues with the ESF teams, at least GSTL has gone back to round robin so there are more games.

That's more of a league for foreigners though, IPTL premier was all the best ESF teams and the best foreign teams mixed in. It only would have been better if they had round robin with all 8 teams instead of splitting them into 2 groups of 4.

You're assuming that IPTL is going to end completely. All I've been hearing repeatedly is the last broadcast under the IPL name - maybe whomever/whatever they become will continue the format under a different name. (I can hope.)

That would be amazing, I'm just not optimistic that it will stay in its current form. If anything I think it will become a team league for NA/EU or maybe just NA under Blizzard.

They would need to kick some teams :D. So far it has mostly just a couple of NA teams getting stomped by EU or international teams like TL apart from that one time where complexity just hired a full team of Korean mercenaries.
I don't want MCSL to change, they have a great player pool and I want to see those teams stay.
I really hate their decision to use shine and bang though. Those two are the noobiest of the whole team. Why throw them out to IM in the grand finals worth 9K?!
MC is one of the few players I see actively using HotS units to his benefit. He seemingly already mastered the Oracle, and his MsC usage is impressive.

Maybe they're well off enough that the difference between first and second place in prize money doesn't matter enough to not let them get experience playing in high stakes matches.

Monster had those good trades before MC reached NAKSEO's base which whittled down his Sentry count. He prepared with a ton of Spines and units too, while being ahead on economy.

I think Vampire is an ok choice against YoDa. From his HoTS games at IEM TvP probably looked his weakest even if he wrecked in the finals. His TvT is very good as well as his TvZ. I dont think KeeN or Noblesse would take YoDa out in TvT personally

I can't believe he lost this after having all those forcefields wasted, and that he didn't snipe the immortals when he had the chance (Though maybe he wasn't able to get close, but they had all lost shields).
Oh god. I usually hate when people say stuff like that, but if MVP won it'd feel quite undeserved especially with their lineup choices and seeing how Super seems to stumble upon his wins by chance. But wins are wins.
A PvP to top it off, Squirtle is the superior player on paper, but PvP seems very volatile still.

A PvP to top it off, Squirtle is the superior player on paper, but PvP seems very volatile still.
playing terrible and still managing to win is sorta super's thing.
The 90 minute PvZ was Hasuobs vs an oGs Zerg. The Zerg went muta and wiped out Hasuobs' main, so Hasuobs just moved all his tech and production to another base. And turtled. I remember watching that game live.

It's not such an upset. IM is notorious for being bad in team leagues despite being ridiculously great individually. MVP, on the other hand, is a team with history of performing well in team leagues even when they don't have that much star power individually. Sure, IM performed better in team leagues lately, but the old trends are not lost, it seems.
That was a good ending to a fantastic run IPL. I remember all the moments from the humble beginnings, starting as an online tournament with foreigners to a full fledged premier SC2 empire in every domain. All the moments, from the HyuN Club reign, the epic KiWiKaKi Archon toilet to every online showing, IPL has always been an important component to my SC2 life. I will fondly miss the casters, the logo and the games, but the memories of an epic brand will always remain. Thanks IPL, thanks for everything, and I sincerely hope everyone finds their path, SC2 or not, e-sports or not.

ehh that was in 2011 with MVP, now I'd say they are the 2nd best team from top to bottom

mmm they have a history of doing good in IPTL though. Still made 4 finals in these and won 2 of them. So we're still better than MVP ;o

Sad to see IPTL go ;;
they were my oasis of starcraft 2 during the weekdays when I got home. Was always nice tuning into a kickass match that just suddenly got announced out of nowhere. They shall be missed.

LOL wait seriously? I was only here to catch the waning moments. Ouch.
Well, Squirtle doesn't have the best micro and photon cannon is amazing vs all-ins, so... IDK y Squirtle went 4gate, especially since you can't warp on high ground anymore.
If only Mvp would've been send out, at least instead of Ragnarok... Anyway, GG IPL & IPTL, gonna miss both formats. Hope everything goes well for the staff who's been around for all this time!
i will never be able to watch another squirtle game without thinking of this. anyway, farewell to IPTL, was always a great watch. hope whoever buys you does right by everyone and brings us more awesome sc and more catspajamas.
Well bye IPL it was nice knowing you at least I'm sure we'll see these casters again especially kevinknocke organisations would be stupid to pass up someone as good as he is at hype.
