This doesn't necessarily prove anything about the amount of viewers foreigners can bring. If a popular foreigner like idra, grubby, stephano, scarlett or whoever managed to make the finals despite this incredible high level of play i don't think there is any question that the viewer count would be higher.
What this tournament does show is that there are a huge amount of people who just want to watch high quality and exciting SC2 regardless of the player.
