The usual: Don't flame casters or players. Don't discuss balance in this or any LR thread. Don't call your fellow posters idiots. Be excited, happy and entertained. |

So why did they become such great matches? medivac boost, vipers, thorzain going terran air. mc using protoss air. widow mines being used a lot and flash and kespa
Yeah, I absolutely love how many players have branched off into very different playstyles which just wasn't very possible in WoL.

They're a lot more dynamic with more agression now there's no tech to hive instantly while turtling :p

Flash needs to go tank bio not full mech or hes going to lose. Innovation is about as good as flash in terms of macro/micro flash is going to need to out smart him to win.

Btw, I wanna say that this example kind of debunks the whole "the viewership goes down when the foreigners are eliminated" story. And it's not just HotS, nor is it just Flash playing (I'd bet most people watching the stream right now haven't seen more than 10 Flash's games), though both of these do surely contribute - this "story" was misguided pretty much forever. MLG used to get a drop in viewership near the end of the tournament because it was post midnight in Europe and a lot of SC2 fans actually work Monday mornings. Who even says this? I wasn't watching much because I was WAITING for the foreigners to get eliminated so I could see the real matches begin. I hear this all the time on various eSports shows... It's kind of a myth that I find really annoying and have never seen any real data that corroborates it.
Most of the people who are like that (i.e. they don't care much for Korean gosus) are probably too casual to be posting here on TL, so there you go.
But this time around, with this quality of play and the fact that the game is still really new and exciting, that's certainly not the case.

Games with BoguS and Flash involved usually were good. But KeSPa even if some people may not like it did increase the level of play by a lot. Flash, Bogus, Rain, Last, herO .. there are a lot of guys that are really good. Its not just MVP anymore but guys that can play on even footing.

Maybe he's just nostalgic, it sure looks like 2011 WoL. Terrans killing everyone. MC only protos getting in top 4. And this one zerg player that just won't die.

Why do casters have to make up generic stuff about players when they don't know anything in particular about them? I mean, saying Flash doesn't lose his mental composure when he lost two StarLeague finals because of that (vs. Jaedong after the blackout and vs. Effort)? Or "he's known for his multi-tasking", "he's known for [insert generic compliment]"...

Anyone else has terrible stream issues? I tried switching browsers, stream resolutions (down to 480p) and it's rather horrible.

100k vs 89k, but keep in mind: This is the final championship day of a SC2 tournament with a large prize pool right after HotS release The LoL "tournament" in question is a league, this is the 5th week of that league. No finals, no championships, and it's NA only(weakest region). suspicious subject knows very much about LoL. noted.

By the end of WoL, most games were just players trying to beat Zerg deathball or winning before the game get to that state. HotS changed that a lot.

Bro, how you leave out Roro from good KeSPa players list? That disrespect =p.

It's nice to see the reaper being used too early game. I'm glad it has, even if it is annoying.

One of the things I love about this HotS tournament so far is that we're actually seeing different unit compositions and they actually appear to be viable. We've seen bio, mech, bio/mine - from Z, we've seen roach/hydra, roach/ling/bling, infestor/bl. Protoss we've seen MC doing skytoss and other tosses playing more standard.
Not sure if this will maintain once the meta gets figured out but this is pretty cool, and has definitely breathed life into the game.
