Give it a few months before talking major balance. Zerg are so used to playing passive aggressive most of the time- open with 3 super quick bases then basically rely on defending the eventual pressure. The PvZ match up has needed a shake up for a long time.

It could decide a Code S seed. Gom said they are announcing the 2nd one shortly. 3 of the last 4 players in IEM aren't in Code S and this is definitely a chance for Gom to seed someone as the first winner of a big HoTS tournament. Plus for $15k. sounds pretty important to me

If Mvp gets Code S I'll actually start to watch it again.

I mean let's be honest. Other than Violet and MAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYBE Stephano.

Were there any Zergs even in attendance that are even close to the level of the 4 LG-IM players currently occupying the top 4 spots?

This result seems rather expected to me when I saw the brackets a couple days ago. The only real contest here was First vs Violet and even then I think First is an overall superior player.

IM just stacked this bracket too hard and they didn't bring any Zergs with them.

Nerchio

Since when is Nerchio Code S level?

well GOMtv wanted to give him code S seed. He rejected

A code s seed doesn't mean you are Code S level. Very few of the players that have gotten seeded have ever even made it past the first round.

Yeap, even Stephano. My point is theres no Code S level foreigner zerg atm

They got $5,900 from their LoL team as well. Although CJ (Frost, Blaze) are taking home $75,000 from LoL.

How could you not want to watch Code S now it has Flash/Fantasy in it, arguably (outside of Boxer and Nada) 2 of the best terrans of all time <3

Of course MVP is the SC2 Terran master, but Flash and Fantasy man <33

Kinda sucks you wouldn't watch it now, it still has amazing players

Nerchio

No offense to Nerchio, but let's be fair here. If Mana could beat him what chance did he really have vs First, Yoda, Yonghwa or MVP?

Mana's good but those guys are on a different level.

well, going by previous tournament results he absolutly has to be named with these others.

I mean, it's quite easy to say "if mana could beat him" after the games have been played. Ret beat First in this very IEM... Still he stood no chance against Yongwha. Still First could take the tournament.

LG-IM looking pretty good. Too bad for all the Zerg players, but atleast they have seen quite alot of Zergs in the last months of WoL. Hope Mvp wins this!
Furthermore, I think the Collosi should be removed! (Zorgaz -Terran/AbrA-Random/Zorg-Dota2) Guineapigs <3

Range phoenix look way too good against corruptors though, that should probably be looked at as I can't imagine they're intended to beat them.

It's not the Void Ray/Colossus but the Void Ray/archon/templar that is the problem. Zerg needs to kill the protoss or cripple him economically before the Protoss reaches that composition.

I think both of them are quite strong and only very specific counters apply to each, (maybe more sh/hydra oriented vs. the second composition while more hydra/viper oriented vs the first)

The templars replaces the collosus with PSI storm witch murders hydras due to their low HP so for all purposes as of anti ground army concerned both compositions are the same regarding power.

At least it is more microable and maybe a good zerg can dodge some of them

doesn't matter, even if you dodge them the hydras are so damaged that voidrays and archons with their splash damage takes out them relativley easy, and don't even get me started on if Protoss decides to have 4-5 zealots in his army.

Sure. By dodging I meant preemtively splitting and taking low damage from storms and also for the zealots and archons the locusts work well. What we could agree on, is that in HOTS is far more essential for zergs (at least from my experience) to scout protoss army composition.

Really excellent point, in WoL there was no real need for zerg to scout protoss past the midgame as we were going to go for BL infestor. Both races now have different compositions to head for that require different responses, many of these responses are far from being figured out, it makes the matchup far more entertaining.

storm is much less effective against roaches than collosus, also less reliable if you dotn factor in vipers
