asd starts for FXO this match though...

edit: this match was definitely played after his official retirement date on Liquipedia, but I'll update it.

Why have kiwikaki listed in the lineup if he retired from sc2 forever ago and has no chance of playing? Is he playing hots again or something?

He is technically on the inactive list for the roster, but I can tell you he has been playing quite a bit of HotS. He just isn't streaming it

Bear in mind the lists are only what the teams give to IPL, it's not really up to them to say who is on a team or not.

Anyway, I expect FXO will crush Root. People keep underestimating the 2 time GSTL champions...

I think it has to be Lucky, since IPL posted in this thread saying asd indeed didn't play.

Probably. A moderator posted in chat:

That was pretty sweet. I wish we saw more players try colossus warp prism harass/drop play, but it probably isn't actually that cost efficient or worth it.

Certainly fun to watch though.

Tim was talking about players missing from the rosters in the OP... They're missing ROOT's newest member, Succeed - source: http://www.root-gaming.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12156

Also Tree and Weekend left FXO 5 months ago - source: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=370814 - third sentence from the bottom.

Really? How old are they? Seems minigun has been playing hots for ages already. In that case I guess infested terrans still benefit from upgrades.

Exhibit 1a of why WoL PvZ is the worst matchup to watch as a spectator.

EDIT: Actually, 1a was probably the DIMAGA vs. HerO game (in NASL) where Dima actually refused to finish the game and actually requested HerO attack him so he could end the game on defense.

It's alright, this is one of the last games of this kind you will ever have to watch.

From what I saw in recent HotS PvZs, it's just the other way around there.

I'm just going to hope they take the time to fix it this time instead of waiting months and months to deal with a huge game design issue.

I mean the carrier leash micro Nony made a big post about awhile ago. I think they only patched that into HoTS and not WoL, but i might be mistaken. Not sure it would've helped Minigun much there, but I just remembered that sieging with carriers would be easier in HoTS and got excited.

people talk here as if 130 supply army was all that Lucky had, the number of spores and spines, and the investment gone into that sort of 'static' defense doesn't cost supply but strengthens the position of the army so much, ZvP is shit in woL/boring, but Minigun played that great.

Wasn't leash range implemented into WoL a long time ago? I might misremember it but I think it has been existent for quite some time, just people still complaining because they don't know.

Edit: I really might misremember it, might just be some very early HotS patch.

Looks like just HoTS? http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=386472

I could very well be wrong though. Also, based on that thread it looks like the leash micro is still a little messed up in HoTS.

Pretty bad engagement by Minigun after the drop. He spread split his army into bite size chunks and didn't focus anything, got picked apart.

He was down 2 supply, maybe just misspoke though I don't see why you would remark on such a trivial fact. They don't seem to read the statistics correctly. They didn't seem to notice that gumiho was >10 army supply ahead all the time.

I mean, I knew he was winning and they made it sound a bit like he was on the verge of losing, on top of that it was factually wrong.

Not sure why Minigun kept pressuring. The attack with 2 colossi put him ahead, he could have sat back on three bases and held Gumiho's counter with less losses, went into harass and set up a nice three base timing...

He should of took out the 3rd while dropping zealots after breaking the front, then he can fall back. He was actually behind after the 2 colossi attack because 3 CC worth of mule and triple scv production more than offset the workers lost.

I hope my comment didn't come out as criticizing MaSa. I've seen him play, and he is an obviously talented player. He just has the bad luck of facing players who are better than him (i.e. top Korean Terrans), and doesn't get to show off his skills.

I think it was the fact that he was paired up against top Koreans that got him noticed in the first place. No one would care how well your TvT was if you only played NA. For me, it was his 2-1 over aLive in NASL that got me to notice how good he was.

To be fair, by the time he found out Sage had the upgrade, the fleets had already engaged and Tear had to rapidly rebuild his air fleet to avoid Sage gaining air supremacy.

That was a fun game though. Sky toss vs Sky toss was fun.

No. Usually it's all about the Phoenix count and you get range later... Sage gambled hardcore there.

To be more clear, if Tear attacked when Sage was upgrading the range, Sage would have died. No way in hell he could have come back. You need a higher Phoenix count to ensure the ability to survive while upgrading range.

It was a huge risk on Sage's part, but it paid off in dividends.

To be fair, by the time he found out Sage had the upgrade, the fleets had already engaged and Tear had to rapidly rebuild his air fleet to avoid Sage gaining air supremacy.

That was a fun game though. Sky toss vs Sky toss was fun.

Sure but he build a third stargate instead of a fleet beacon after getting sniped most of his phoenix

Though Sage had it when he held off the drops barely losing anything but he just fell apart after that. Good job Leenock I really want FXO to win.

While it's not qutie over yet, Sage has held heroically through all the attacks Leenock has sent. I do want Leenock to win though.

OK, now Sage is in trouble, running out of money, main out of minerals. Leenock got a well earned win.

Well, that was a fun game. I wish the casters could have seen the DT harass. It killed a good number of workers, and even sniped the pool.

Kibbelz makes me want to cry he's so bad. Leenock absolutely dominated that game and Kibbelz was talking like Sage was one move away from winning the entire time

One of the most enjoyable ZvP's I've seen in a long time. 15 minutes of just non stop pressure, not letting up for a second.

It was close at times. Leenock didn't tech, nor get significant upgrades, and did take some damage from the DT harass. If his aggression had failed, Sage would have most likely rolled him over.

Sadly, teams never learn how to pick maps. It's loser's pick, and there are 9 maps. ROOT knew that Leenock was on FXO, and that drop build on Abyssal by Leenock was probably 100% win rate if I remember correctly. Yet, other losers refuse to "consume" Abyssal City for non-PvLeenock. I forgot which team, but this happened before. It's really sad to see the lack of team strategy for map picking.

Especially good on that map as the large distance makes tech switching a lot safer.

So in general, he read the game a lot better than Leenock. Sad how once Leenockvember is over, he doesn't play as well. I've seen Leenock play better than that though. Congratulations to ROOT, you guys overcame a two time GSTL champion team, and finally play with the big boys.

After defending against the first drop Sage got up to around 150 supply including some immortals and a ton of sentrys. That should be able to easily handle any amount of roach/ling thrown at him. Unfortunatle for him Leenock played amazing and simply had better multitasking, catching favorable engagement.

Sage was also up in workers even after the first drop in the main. It was a close game and Sage definitly could have taken it.

On a map like Entombed or Antiga, then yes, he could have taken it. But going for that early of a third on Abyssal means that max roach/ling attacks (especially with drops) are nearly unstoppable regardless of the decision making of Sage. Sage lost that game mostly because he chose the wrong build order and Leenock chose the proper response

A note to the casters: good commentary, but never refer to each other as "he". (almost) Always use the proper noun. Pronouns are the bane of good casting.

Heh, and to think that only yesterday (after the NSHS-Liquid match), people were complaining about the format because it seems the same teams were 'staying' in the Premier division. Who would have thought that the 2 time reigning GSTL champs would get knocked down. Nice job by Root!

FXO has another chance to qualify for the Premier IIRC, as long as they win their next match. IPTL is expanding the divisions to 10 teams each.

But from a pessimistic point of view, really shows how terribly weak FXO is right now.... Nowhere near the level they were before in team leagues.

But, YEAH YUGIOH!!!!
