gogo root ^^ they have a respectable chance with some koreans on their roster now so there might be room for an upset here eventhough i still think fxo is favoured
|
I'm calling FXO to take this one. Looking forward to it and hoping for a close series!
Edit: Goddammit, I love that root logo.
|
asd, Sirius and Whale have retired and should be removed from the rosters btw
|
Sage all-kills FXO! Again!
If not, Root will be in trouble.

asd starts for FXO this match though...

FXO domination, but ROOT might take a few games.
FXO 5-2 ROOT

Go Root! They deserve a shot at the Premier division

Why have kiwikaki listed in the lineup if he retired from sc2 forever ago and has no chance of playing? Is he playing hots again or something?
|
ROOT + Brown korean fighting
|
FXO should really have this no problem. dont see anyone on root who has a chance against leenock

Minigun not on the ROOT list?

Minigun rejoined ROOT mid-season. He's supposed to be on the roster!
|
Bear in mind the lists are only what the teams give to IPL, it's not really up to them to say who is on a team or not.
Anyway, I expect FXO will crush Root. People keep underestimating the 2 time GSTL champions...
|
Pretty sure asd plays Terran and retired... and now Tim and Kibbelz are calling a Zerg player asd...

I think it has to be Lucky, since IPL posted in this thread saying asd indeed didn't play.
|
well casters wtf... srsly you should be able to know that asd doesnt play zerg ._. thats so embarassing
|
Doesn't ASD play terran? o____o;;;
|
I'm so confused. Just tuned in and the first map should be Leyia vs asd on ohana (according to results), but this is clearly not ohana, asd is terran and retired.
|
Get the feeling it's Lucky, haha. But if it was said to be asd then it has to be assumed to be asd!
|
I'm so confused. I was not really paying attention but when they started talking about asd's hatchery I knew something was wrong.
This is Lucky, right?

This is Lucky, right? Probably. A moderator posted in chat: Urbzie: Something went wrong, lets hope it'll get figured out soon, meanwhile lets enjoy the games regardless Urbzie: So very likely LeiYa vs Lucky, aight

That was pretty sweet. I wish we saw more players try colossus warp prism harass/drop play, but it probably isn't actually that cost efficient or worth it.

Very impressive play by minigun. Especially when you consider how much he has been focusing on hots.

I anticipating HotS just to see BL/Infestor grow obsolete. Just a really boring composition that makes games a bit boring imo.

It's alright, this is one of the last games of this kind you will ever have to watch.
|
Exhibit 1a of why WoL PvZ is the worst matchup to watch as a spectator.
EDIT: Actually, 1a was probably the DIMAGA vs. HerO game (in NASL) where Dima actually refused to finish the game and actually requested HerO attack him so he could end the game on defense.
|
lucky seems to have no clue what kind of late game composition to go for.... he had the advantage but i think he gave it away and let minigun re build

Minigun is just sitting there... why not kill everything else?

I can't wait until the casters realize you can uproot a spine and never lose to elimination.

I mean the carrier leash micro Nony made a big post about awhile ago. I think they only patched that into HoTS and not WoL, but i might be mistaken. Not sure it would've helped Minigun much there, but I just remembered that sieging with carriers would be easier in HoTS and got excited.

people talk here as if 130 supply army was all that Lucky had, the number of spores and spines, and the investment gone into that sort of 'static' defense doesn't cost supply but strengthens the position of the army so much, ZvP is shit in woL/boring, but Minigun played that great.

GuMiho just has that magic touch that makes every game a treat to watch.
|
Not sure why Minigun kept pressuring. The attack with 2 colossi put him ahead, he could have sat back on three bases and held Gumiho's counter with less losses, went into harass and set up a nice three base timing...
|
He should of took out the 3rd while dropping zealots after breaking the front, then he can fall back. He was actually behind after the 2 colossi attack because 3 CC worth of mule and triple scv production more than offset the workers lost.

Have to say they should NOT try to do math during cast... it's not working out so far.

I think it was the fact that he was paired up against top Koreans that got him noticed in the first place. No one would care how well your TvT was if you only played NA. For me, it was his 2-1 over aLive in NASL that got me to notice how good he was.

To be fair, by the time he found out Sage had the upgrade, the fleets had already engaged and Tear had to rapidly rebuild his air fleet to avoid Sage gaining air supremacy.
That was a fun game though. Sky toss vs Sky toss was fun.

Tear either needed range or some cannons to fall back onto

To be more clear, if Tear attacked when Sage was upgrading the range, Sage would have died. No way in hell he could have come back. You need a higher Phoenix count to ensure the ability to survive while upgrading range.
It was a huge risk on Sage's part, but it paid off in dividends.

OK, now Sage is in trouble, running out of money, main out of minerals. Leenock got a well earned win.

It was close at times. Leenock didn't tech, nor get significant upgrades, and did take some damage from the DT harass. If his aggression had failed, Sage would have most likely rolled him over.

Sadly, teams never learn how to pick maps. It's loser's pick, and there are 9 maps. ROOT knew that Leenock was on FXO, and that drop build on Abyssal by Leenock was probably 100% win rate if I remember correctly. Yet, other losers refuse to "consume" Abyssal City for non-PvLeenock. I forgot which team, but this happened before. It's really sad to see the lack of team strategy for map picking.

Especially good on that map as the large distance makes tech switching a lot safer.

So in general, he read the game a lot better than Leenock. Sad how once Leenockvember is over, he doesn't play as well. I've seen Leenock play better than that though. Congratulations to ROOT, you guys overcame a two time GSTL champion team, and finally play with the big boys.

Leenock absolutely dominated that game and Kibbelz was talking like Sage was one move away from winning the entire time After defending against the first drop Sage got up to around 150 supply including some immortals and a ton of sentrys. That should be able to easily handle any amount of roach/ling thrown at him. Unfortunatle for him Leenock played amazing and simply had better multitasking, catching favorable engagement.
Sage was also up in workers even after the first drop in the main. It was a close game and Sage definitly could have taken it.

Good for Root. They are close to being one of the top ten non kespa teams in the world so I think they deserve this.

But going for that early of a third on Abyssal means that max roach/ling attacks (especially with drops) are nearly unstoppable regardless of the decision making of Sage. Sage lost that game mostly because he chose the wrong build order and Leenock chose the proper response

A note to the casters: good commentary, but never refer to each other as "he". (almost) Always use the proper noun. Pronouns are the bane of good casting.

Heh, and to think that only yesterday (after the NSHS-Liquid match), people were complaining about the format because it seems the same teams were 'staying' in the Premier division. Who would have thought that the 2 time reigning GSTL champs would get knocked down. Nice job by Root!
|
Nice job ROOT! I didn't feel confident they would take Leenock down but I was wrong! :D GJ!

ROOT flexin that korean muscle.

FXO has another chance to qualify for the Premier IIRC, as long as they win their next match. IPTL is expanding the divisions to 10 teams each.

really disappointed I missed the ace but I'm really happy for ROOT

Oh SNAP!! Congratulations on that Root!! :D
Would never have expected at all. Not bad at all. Lots of players getting a win in too ^^

Wow, nice work ROOT GAMING
|
OH YEAH! YugiOh nice fucking work!
|
Awesome job by ROOT!!! Congratz ;DDD
But from a pessimistic point of view, really shows how terribly weak FXO is right now.... Nowhere near the level they were before in team leagues.
But, YEAH YUGIOH!!!! I was telling European teams to pick him up since b4 his GSL debut but nobody believed me =P Been ROOTing for this kid since forever ;D
