In a hypothetical situation, Team A could announce some Terran player as their starter and Team B could announce a Zerg. Terran A spends all his time preparing for Zerg B. Zerg B is late but really Team B had Protoss B preparing for Terran A all week so now Team B has the preparation advantage. Not saying something like that happened today but you could end up with some questionable scenarios if you could just change your starters the day of the match.

Great games! Wooo go EGTLStephano

Haha, damn I was out partying so I missed it, but what a peculiar turn of events! Glad that EG-TL finally closed out an Ace match, hope Stephano can keep delivering in this fashion. Unlucky HerO for getting stuck, hope he doesn't get punished or anything for it.

One thing that's started to annoy me (and I know some people have been saying this about foreign casters forever) is the tendency to call a game over before it is. Light vs. Revival was a shining example of this. "There is nothing Revival can do here" into "There is nothing Light can do in this situation" into Terran GG. I mean, even if they get it right most of the time, it should, in my opinion, be embarrassing when you call "game over" on a player who then proceeds to win the game.
Just a smaller pet peeve, though - in general, I feel the casters are slowly getting more used to casting Proleague - and they'll keep getting better.

Stephano is so good! His macro doesn't look flawless i think, but still... wow
On January 19 2013 20:48 Undead1993 wrote: great by stephano once again and gg eg-TL, but why cant they just choose another player ._.' what a stupid rule. Because this is a professional league?? Imagine if teams could just change the line up on the fly after the other team has already done all their preparation. Maybe this actually wasn't hero's fault, maybe it was, but I have never in 6 years of following PL heard of a player being late to a game. The lack of professionalism from loads of sc2 players is probably what made them suck so much in bw to begin with.

I don't think it's really a stupid rule to require players for a televised broadcast to be on time.
This is an occupation, a job, and there are consequences for being late. If EG-TL were allowed to choose another player, they have the benefit of knowing who their opponent is on which map. But even if both teams were allowed to blind-pick a new player, that would make announcing starters pointless- and proleague lauds itself on giving players ample time for preparation (isn't much they can do for Winner's League format, but they try to maintain at least some consistency with the starters). Not to mention that television channels have set advertisement commitments and timeslot obligations that aren't always so flexible.
I think a harsh penalty makes sense under those circumstances- this is not amateur hour, these are professionals playing in a professional league, and all teams are treated equally under the interpretation of the rules (however strict they are).
*Edit: I don't mean to single anyone out. Lots of other people have already addressed the post directly (and he's acknowledged them) so I'll just snip out the quote for a more general post on my view.

Guys guys guys, wouldn't it be great to...
to let the other team pick the player they want to play against in this case??
Well i guess this could be easily abused, but on the other hand it would be an amazing opportunity for the players who don't usually play to get some screen time AND possible mad upsets

Hahaa the korean commentators go absolutely bonkers whenever it looks like Stephano is winning So much fun to listen to them

Too bad we didn't get to see Free play, he seems to be on fire since his last all-kill appearence.

And who would have thought it would be EG-TL (not KT, not SKT) to break WJS's winning streak this round.

I kind of expected Stephano to drop off and stop winning at all immediately after the first PL match he played (where he went 2-1).. I'm glad I was wrong about that. :3

I went to sleep right as the ace match was starting. Glad that Stephano got the win! Proving that he can still deliver. Congrats to EG-TL.

They all want Stephano to be Elky or Grr. Funny since they all speak French.
