Mbit and MBps are different. Bit vs Byte. 8Mbit = 1 MBps. So a 20mbit connection gets about 2.5mbps.

Are you friggin serious. I just went on speedtest and I'm currently at 2.16 Mbps. I would LOVE to have 20 mb/s without a cap. I still have to say, caps just sound ridiculously stupid. Why get fast internet if you can't do anything with it?

Well I didn't have any cap with 3G until I upgraded to a 4G LTE mobile plan. Now I only have 7GB/month, data transmission is then limited to 128Kbps over this limit, unless I unlock it by paying like $20. I also watch GSL in suburban train etc, and it looks like 7GB is about the amount I would use on my mobile if I didn't try to use wifi as much as possible. I've never heard of any limit for my home internet plan though.
Edit: to be fair Japan is really expensive for internet access. At least compared to France where I'm from. And french providers have more service included (support is much worse but well).

Didn't even know cap still existed for non-mobile internet.

yeah i have only 50gb for 12pm-12am, it's very little. i have 70gb offpeak, but most of the time when there's stuff on it's during peak hours for me lol. 50gb can be chewed up really quickly when one night of GSL is already a few GB

If I'm not mistaken, Speedtest uses Mbits https://support.speedtest.net/entries/21057567-what-do-mbps-and-kbps-mean
