Remember when zerg was the weakest race and you couldn't go five minutes without hearing some Z threaten to switch to terran?

Not saying they're OP now, just being wistful.

No, I don't remember when Zerg was nearly as bad as Terran is now... I remember Fruitdealer winning a GSL and IdrA winnings MLGs, etc, but not 3 foreign zergs in a ro32 of a tournament and not making top 13.

Just to be a bit more specific, that's the timestamp for the very last game indeed.
Dont go there if you want to watch the full final.

Vods of all broadcasted matches, aswell as interviews by Lani & Megumi will be up over at http://www.youtube.com/user/IGNProLeague/videos aswell.
Though Day4 isnt uploaded yet atm, but should be soon-ish.

Huh it wasn't extended series. It was double elimination. Would be more disgusting if leenock was the only person who never got a second life. If it was single elim, violet would have been out before that point. Still amazing to me how so many people still don't understand how double elimination works. Violet was only in the finals because he got a 2nd chance after already losing to leenock in the winner's finals.

I dont like the format at all - that is my point.

Should be groups , winners and losers bracket to get into groups and top places in the group goto playoffs - then you have a grand final that is played on its own terms - not relying on earlier games.

As I said - violet wins the grand final 3-2 and loses the tournament - you cant see a problem with that ?

When a player performs better in the Grand final - they should win the whole thing. Like BWC, GSL etc.

In a double elimination tournament, there is no problem with that. Leenock deserves the 2nd chance, just like every single player in the tournament got before him.

So in you're format you'd have a single elimination tournament AFTER the group stage?

You keep speaking in terms of a double elimination - yeah I know how it works , as I said, I dont like it. And I dont think it has the spirit of what a Grand final should be.

You not getting it.

You still aren't getting it. Violet DIDNT win the "Grand Final". He won the chance to win the "Grand Final" by beating Leenock 3-2 in the first series.

This is like eSports 101...

I get it, I don't like it.

You seemed to of missed the point I made.

Might wanna try - interpersonal skills 101.

No he's right. You still don't get it and are missing the point. You keep saying violet won 3-2 and that we should have a problem with that. You fail to acknowledge that Leenock had yet to lose a series up until that point, while violet already lost to him 3-1 earlier. Therefore, if leenock got eliminated after losing 1 series and being the only player in the entire tournament not to get a second chance, you don't see a problem with that?

If it was single elim, violet would have been eliminated earlier and leenock would have won hours ago.

As above, Im not talking in terms of double elim.

Im not saying Leenock doesnt deserve to be champion, Im saying Grand final that include earlier games I dont agree with at all.

It technically didn't include the earlier games... because both series started from scratch. Yes, you aren't talking in terms of double elimination but it IS a double elimination tournament.

-_-

And so, the balance whiners persist, in differing forms.

For the record though, Fruitdealer won the first GSL because everyone was TEEEEERRIBLE and IdrA won against a bunch of foreigners when he was one of the top 10 players in the world. I never thought it was that bad really but I also don't think it's that bad now.

Technically the semi-finals were a bo5. Winners final was a semi-final bo5 which Leenock won 3-1 over Violet.

Losers final Violet beats Polt 3-2 which is arguably another semi-final.

Your bitching and moaning about double elimination tournaments. Unfortunately every player coming from the winners bracket is going to have some sort of advantage because like I just said. It's a double elimination tournament and all formats are different.

Whether it be a best of seven with the winner up a game, extended series (ewwww), winning two best of series (2 bo3's, 2 bo5s or in this case 1 bo5 and a bo3).

Look, I'm not a big fan of double elimination either. It can make for very anti-climatic series. If I had it my way once you lost a set you'd be out.

I'm very old school in that regard and it makes for better television. That's why we still have group play.

I like the Frontpage picture a lot. All three of them look happy and friendly. Well viOlet isn't looking very happy, but still.

Very, very good tournament. GOM production was so good. I don't think there has been a multiple days LAN tournament with a this good production quality yet.

that ten pool hold (game 1 of the last bo3) just made the ten pool look weak. did violet execute that correctly?

Not really; I believe 10 pool vs 15 hatch is BO win IF you make one spine in the main and one in the natural.

Missed the finals but glad to see viOlet take it. Damn, he sure has come a thousand miles and a half as a player. Will dig up those VODS later if I have the time.
