The prize distribution should've been better in my opinion. Difference between 1st and 2nd place is 60k and 2nd and 3rd place is 44k.

It makes it seem that if you're not the top tier players that can win tournaments, there's no reason you should be playing, and that doesn't seem right to me.

Great tournament overall though, I enjoyed the hype throughout especially Idra's games haha.

prize distribution is fine it was supposed to bring out the best in people anyways the difference between first and second SHOULD be huge and so on down

To be fair, lifting the trophy is already a huge difference, a 60k gap might be too much. In general, a better prize structure would make progamming more sustainable and would encourage more people to try their luck in the business. As Carmac said:

Professional StarCraft II is too top-heavy in its rewards and the StarCraft II middle class is dying. Being a top player lets you earn $100,000 a year in prizes, but placing six spots below him on a regular basis won’t pay for your rent.

Players that aren’t good enough to win major titles but are able to challenge the NesTeas of this world and finish top four sometimes… We see them quit with beautiful announcements, or quietly. They can’t afford to play full time, but the middle class are the most important group of players.

Stephano won’t play any better than he does already if you pay him twenty times more than he earns. He will play many times better if the number of players that challenge him on an every day basis (in tournaments and in training) gets multiplied.

Parting winning almost taints the Championship I feel. Unlike Creator, Parting is not going win any other major any time soon. Creator has a good chance to win GSL and IPL5 all within a span of a month with BWC. That's enough to get B-word mongering in the forums.

This is without a doubt the luckiest break Parting will ever have. He has all rights to celebrate as hard as he can.

PartinG might be the favorite to win WCG 2012, because if MKP isn't going (MKP is qualified for IPL5, paid trip, and WCG)

Then the only other korean would be YongHwa and the list of strong foreigners there is very low.. the only noteable ones would be -
LoWeLy, KiLLeR and fraer, with a few other names in there. There is still a couple of missing seeds, but really, the lineup for this WCG 2012 is extremely weak, mainly because it happens the same weekend as IPL5

I am sorry but Parting the best player in the world is a big joke. In his group were Socke, Fenix and Illusion in the Play Offs against Scarlett, Suppy and Sen thats it.. Then the Finals... Hes a decent player but thats it I can name instant 10 players who are better.

This tournament was way too short double elemination bracket is way better.

Wait, so if Hero beats Sen and Rain beats Creator, but Parting wins it all does that make Parting a better player?...

I'm sorry but I can't name 10 players that are definitively better than Parting right now. MVP, MC, MKP, MMA, DRG and Nestea WERE better than Parting.

Rain might be better than Parting right now. (and I can say a few other names)

But no reason to trash on one of the top players in the world because he beat EVERYBODY that was in front of him but you didn't like who they were...

So earlier this year everyone cried for a tournament like this with a certain amount of seeds per country/region. Now that Koreans still dominated everyone, the community is crying because it was not the "hardest tournament ever". SC2 viewers are just extremely weird...

Well, IEM WC (the biggest tournament IEM hosts) had a pretty top heavy payout as well. The thing is, the prize for first place is not pure as incentive for players to win. It also draws more casual fans. Most of us on TL probably doesn't tune in just because the winner gets more money. But a casual fan might be more interested when he hears that the winner will win $100,000 dollars. Same with TI2 and LoL Season 2 prize pools.

More like protoss dominated a tournament without Life, Hyun, DRG or Leenock. Actually, saying 'dominated' is pretty generous considering we were a couple of games away from having a top 4 with 3 foreign zergs.

Agree. It is not like PartinG got special treatment and was seeded into the finals. It is not his problem that others lost before facing him. Did he get lucky? Sure. But almost all championship runs are like that. Would Rain have won OSL if Leenock was able to qualify and they faced in Ro8? Would LIfe have won GSL4 is he had to play more ZvZ? Would Mvp have won 4 GSLs if he had to face protoss more in 2011? Would Nestea have won his if he ran into Mvp more during his runs?

Well, i hope that outspoken community shows and figures have the balls to tell Blizzard into their face what a huge dissappointment this tournament was in terms of production. Not even 50.000 viewers for what should have gone into history as the biggest WoL tournament ever. Too bad that they weren't able or willing to take the world finals away from the production crew, that already botched the asia finals, in order to give it to the dreamhack production crew, who did such an amazing job at the europe finals.
This was a completely uninspirational, unpersonal, badly produced waste of dreams, which produced a few really cool games and moments, but should be forgotten very quickly.

Production is pitiful yes, but they cannot control who makes it to the finals, cannot control if the games are going to be snoozer or epic - things that also affected viewer count. Also, you did not figure in the number of people watching it on any other avenues besides that particular Twitch stream.
