He's an americain player in EG, he's been doing some good results lately( not awesome, but good ones). And we won't lie: the fact that he plays Z might help him, a little bit.

Some of you seriously need to shut up about them hyping the game. IT'S THEIR JOB. You really think they believe that whoever wins this is the best in the world? Of course they don't but Blizzard needs them to sell this tournament.

it's an upset, but not a major one. he had a relatively easy group and bracket.

No, It's not.
There were 7 Korean players at this tournament, and a weekend tournament will never be harder to win than GSL even if the player pool is the same as GSL.

Suppy, not Supply.
He's a college student from NA. Very talented and a good player, but hasn't got the time to play SC2 full time. He's in team Evil Geniuses so he's not unknown or anything, but not the most high profile.
He was highest finishing foreigner at last MLG!
