They could not do anything because they are too old for that. Hands too slow.

Indeed, youngins like Magnus Carlsen couldn't do anything the Koreans aren't already doing training 8 hours a day.

Oh there are young and high ranked players too? :D. Then it's the language barrier that would prevent him from winning. And his chess mastery would not help him that much in SC.
