The top 8 zergs just seems to be on a whole level. If you look like TLPD zerg hold 1,3,4,5,6,9,11,17 So they have 6/10 and 8/20. But then the next is 32, 37 (CoCa who is retired) So they only have 10/40. It seems there is a big 'skill' threshold. If your skill is above that threshold, you are really dominate. But just below that, you will get beat a lot.

That gave them the ability to maintain their ELO. Recently, there is only GSL counting in the TLPD Korea so whenever a player loses in GSL, even if it's against very good players, he becomes almost invisible for the TLPD during a little amount of time and he falls behind (look at Mvp for example). So the fact that the zergs are only placed in the very top of the TLPD comes from the fact that those who just qualified for code A are still invisible for the TLPD and they need a little streak of win to gain a spot more visible. Every zerg now established in code S is in the top, that's another way to see it.

This is a bit of a misconception. If you fall out of the GSL you don't play any games, and your rating just doesn't change. It doesn't decay, and unless the ratings of everyone else somehow increase uniformly, you wouldn't fall behind either. Of course, this isn't to defend the Elo system. Some newer systems have rating deviations that, unless they play, increase until they hit a ceiling where the player drops out of the list entirely.

But the next tier of Zerg have trouble staying or making Code A. This big contrast is not really evident in the other races. When terrans like Taeja, MKP, Mvp were dominating, you had a much better spread of terrans through the top 40(first page in the TLPD).
