Theres a lot going on in the game. Since zerg players have way more stuff to deal with then Toss players it can be hard to constantly be putting up spores and spines while trying to macro off all your bases and protect an extremely fragile army.
And btw those statistics may not be proven bu you would be lying to yourself if you think they are way off.
